So Carlin himself stated that Pryor was leagues ahead of him.

    Retort?

Oh yeah. Which one lost his career and couldnt handle his high.

If you say Pryor. Go read both biographies and see who had more gigs when they were on that ? ?

If your lazy... Pryor was getting burned running down the street and releasing movies about it and still caking...

Carlin was sitting around becoming broke and his daughter was turning to a ? .

Oh, I respect both comedians but know your history.

    wait wait wait.

You mean Carlin in 75 when he was too coked up to do SNL? That Carlin? The one where the whole world swore he fell the ? off?

Or do you mean is career rebirth in the 90's? When Pryor was steeped in MS? Oh that...

Do you even have Carlins comedy Albums?

ill give you a good one to pick up. Start with AM/FM.

Carlin vs. Pryor in their heydays is very tough to say.

However, overall, the scale tips for Carlin because he was dropping great material in his later years as well, and "You are All Diseased" (Carlin's 1999 HBO special) was a classic.

Carlin isn't overrated. He has some strong bits out chea.

I hate when people just dont see the effect Richard Pryor had on the game of comedy as a whole. Him and Lenny Bruce.

He inspired Carlin. He inspired everyone to step out and talk about that real ? . He made the jump and did it so well he had the world in his hands. MS took his genius for 20 years.

Without no Pryor/bruce there would be no Carlin. He would have stuck to his guns with his PG comedy.

    Thats an unfair comparison.

With no MS I bet Richard would still be ripping material to this day.

This doesn't mean anything about the discussion of whether Carlin or Pryor is the best comedian. I would only bring that point up to someone who loves Carlin but thinks Pryor is wack (and I don't know anyone who fits that description). Plenty of people surpass the key figures who influenced them.
