I'll say it again: It is possible that Pryor would easily be above Carlin, if not for the MS, but that's an IF. If your aunt had ? she'd be your uncle. I'm dealing with what actually happened.
Id put up their heydays against each other by impact.
So Pryor 68 - 82
Carlin lets say...93 -07
I would still take Pryor honestly.
His effect from the stage, the silver screen, and television is just too staggering to ignore.
Not only that, he pretty much invented the medium, the filmed comedy set, that would help Carlin break out of his funk and make the best ? of his time period. -
yo what aisle you live in, b?

British stand-up comedy is far superior to american.

I just chalk it to different sensibilities.

thehonorable wrote: »You just don't turn off the genius. MS meant he couldnt do stand up. You say you studied comedy. I am sure you know a few comedians( in real life) like I do. Thats a rough life, developing material and hitting the pavement. Mooney said he was funny until the day he died.
Yet again, you're talking about the potential he had that hypothetically could have made the difference if not for his MS. Just because Mooney says he was funny doesn't mean I can give him credit as if he was actually doing stand up at the time. Being funny in private with Mooney isn't the same as maintaining what he had on stage. Yes, I do know some people who do stand up (no one famous). One of them is a good friend of mine who could walk on stage anywhere and ? it consistently a few years ago. More recently, he's not doing so well, and flopping pretty frequently. But when I hang out with him, he's just as funny as it ever was. Still being a funny guy and being able to remain a good stand up comedian aren't the same thing. -
No ? ?

Funny is funny tho.
I can watch John Cleese and laugh my ass off. Even if I am not a huge improv guy.
