The Detroit Pistons have chosen Lawrence Frank to be their new head coach, according to sources with knowledge of the team's thinking.
The Pistons have selected Frank over former Detroit assistant Mike Woodson, with sources telling ESPN.com that the decision signals the growing influence in the organization of former New York Knicks executive Dave Checketts.
Yahoo! Sports first reported that Frank's hiring is imminent. The Associated Press reported that Frank will have a formal contract offer from Detroit within the next two days.

Great move imo, Lawrence Frank is a great coach and once they start makin some moves to clear up the logjams at certain positions they'll be playin good ball

i hope they commit to frank longterm, if the team struggles they cant just pan after one bad year, it takes time to rebuild in most cases.

i think the relationship brandon knight and lawrence frank have will define his tenure with us. Knight is pretty much under the radar as a rookie player but Lawrence has worked with some solid pgs like Jason Kidd and Rajon Rondo in Jersey and Boston. Frank also is big on pick and roll offense and close out defense, i think a healthy jonas jerebko and a developing Greg Monroe playing with Brandon Knight could be a good fit for the future depending on how Knight/monroe/jerebko improve/handle the pressure.
Gordon is a chucker but if he gets hot is valuable but not for his contract, yet we need to move rip for some picks and a good center.
This type of decision needs time and the entire organization needs to be on frank's side no matter what his decisions are unless they drastically ? up the team. No more of that players boycotting ? , this is a team that was on top of the east for five years...we deserve better as fans... -
