I cant call it like that.

Nas went out of his way to defend Eminem on the ? Tape.

Like Gee said, he's not really taking a stand against anything either.

Believe it or not theres a large African and Muslim population in Europe. Nothing wrong with expanding your market to Europe as long as you aren't putting White people on a pedestal to do it.

Somebody show me where Jay is elevating Whiteness over Blackness and you may have a point.

The Africa talk is cool but what is he doing for his own community? My aunt stayed on Vernon for years. I constantly hear how Ron Artest comes back and gives more than any of the rappers. I'm sure his schedule is more chaotic than these rappers.

Ron Artest will always be that dude in my books solely for how humble he is.Folks can call him crazy but he is a real stand up guy

Bill O'reily would ask Tupac if his consciousness is "I get around" or "Keep ya Head up" or is it "Brendas got a Baby" or "I ? your wife".............

"Oochie Wally" was a club single by the Bravehearts on a Braveheart album so why compare it to "One Mic" which is a song about power, war and Soul-searching.....does having Knowledge of Self mean that you are forbidden to party and you have to live the life of a monk?

Its odd that JayZ would mention lyrics like "Shorty owe you for ice" because a club song like "You owe me" is no different from a JayZ song like "Aint no ? "....but JayZ dosent have a song like "Black girl Lost"

He truly is. I remember when St.Johns was playing in the Garden and Ron missed his ride to stay back and sign autographs. It was so many damn people, security had to force people to leave. Ron stayed though. If you remember Felipe Lopez, that clown was brushing fans off while he was still at Rice. When Ron was in Chicago, they reported he almost literally went broke because he was giving so much away. Talking about something only goes so far.

Black Girl lost was a diss to Nas' baby moms tho.

He was mad she was hanging out in club with her hood rat friends and cheating on him with rappers and athletes who popped bottles.

It's a personal record masquerading as something socially uplifting.

Everytime Carmen would come in the crib Nas probably was walking around humming that song.

Tupac was a mess of contradiction, which made him interesting but also polluted his messaging.

I dont believe that you have any proof that Nas defended Emenim on the ni99er tape.

People with intelligence will say that Nas pointed out that all human creation started in Afrika so we are all "? " even the mutated albinos who he called "? -wigga-cracka" in the same song...listen to the song again for the correct interpretation.

I dont see were the T/S inferred anything about someone taking a "stand" against something.... we didnt mention his petition against ? -Fox news or his indictment of Americas legacy of racism we simply made an observation on Nas & JayZ' embracing the culture that they find most comfortable.

A concept album about American Gangsters or a concept album about Americas Racism

    "Ghetto Techno" or "Project Roach"

    "Frank Lucas" or "Farrakhan"

    Luke Steele or Nneka

    JayZ "Black Republicans"

I feel like a Black militant taking over the government
cant turn my back on the hood too much love for them
Cant clean my act up for good, too much thug in him
I'll probably end back in the hood I'm like f**k it then

    Nas "Black Republicans"

    Just an observation.

    Just an observation.

I think you're cherry picking what to embrace and what to criticize about Nas and Jay.

You can spin it however you want, but those bars about Eminem being Nas' ? / ? friend was about Eminem being cool because we're all humans.

    The complete line is:

Not mad 'cause Eminem said ? , 'cause he my ?
wigga, ? , friend - we all black within, okay?
    We all African, okay
Some Africans don't like us no way!

If a rapper you didnt like had rapped that you'd be having a field day. There would be endless propaganda threads with colorful fonts and carefully right clicked pictures highlighting said rappers coonery.

It all depends what you're looking for.

You see Jay embracing White people. I see Jay embracing Obama, Cornell West, Oprah, and Will Smith.

You see Jay making Ghetto Tehcno. I see Jay helping end NY's Rockefeller Drug laws and helping out Sean Bell's widow.

You see Jay acting White. I see Jay acting like an adult.

You see Jay breaking up his record label and selling out his partners. I see a businessman leaving a risky situation to start something new.

You see Jay going European. I see Jay giving his time to charitable causes in Africa.

I guess its all a matter of perception and how your societal view is colored?

    M.I.A. says

“Jay became the biggest representation of rap music who’s still alive, started dating Beyoncé, everything was so much bigger and better with Jay-Z. I hope people don’t think that that wins.

“The fact that Nas didn’t become all this sort of stuff changes people’s perception about the music and the work he achieved in his lifetime. I don’t wanna say Jay-Z sold out, but I just feel like we have to wait another 10 years to see what happens.

“Jay-Z’s ambition was to become like Frank Sinatra, a household name all over the planet, and own a casino in Vegas and stuff like that. And I think Nas was really sticking to knowledge. I still think the biggest point about hip-hop is in there somewhere, what happens to those two artists

Thats a good breakdown. The world isnt black and white and the end goal is progress.

If you really care about Black people, as opposed to just hating White people, you'd see that there is more than one way to get where we're trying to go. We need fiscal empowerment as much as social empowerment. In that sense Nas and Jay are repping two sides of the same struggle with different approaches.

When crackas see Jay stunting with Warren Buffet or hanging out with the president it offends them just as much if not more than a record they'll never hear by a rapper they've never heard of talking about something he's never going to do.

    Different messages for different audiences.
