that NY accent is mainly east European & Jewishin origin and is concentrated in Brooklyn. its starting to fade in Manhattan.
the NO accent is west/central African in origin, because the black folk in New Orleans are culturally related to the Haitians and Jamaicans. Creole speakin' folks. I wonder if the people who spread out because of the hurricane are loosing it? hope not. -
