im gonna say em. didnt 8 mile come out that year?
-
I'm gonna say Ja Rule, Em sold the most but Ja was ? everywhere on Ashanti's ? , writing for J Lo, all over 106 and Park.
-
in march of 02, i'd say ja rule and even jay even tho his soul was still burning after ether
but ask this question in the spring/summer and nelly and em would be my answer
-
Nelly and Eminem were the dudes I heard the most on the radio and would be all over TV. I was 12 then, so I was able to grasp what was goin on. I remember Cam gettin alot of burn that year also. The Clipse was hot most of the year just off of "grindin" alone. The Big Tymers even had hits then.
-
yea gotta go wit ja....4 albums released from 99-02,,,,rule was all over the place
-
I think it was ja rule as well.
Looking back that was an interesting time in hip hop. -
nas, stillmatic had just dropped two months earlier, one mic was topping charts and ether was still burning slow
-
This time it was Ja... then Late Spring Summer Came and Em and Nelly ruled most of the year
-
Eminem and Nelly are at the top. As far as album sails and singles on the radio.
Outkast was big. They were every were. Im sorry mrs jackson was on the radio every 15 minutes.
jay-z
Puff daddy and the family were big. Bad Boy was THE label in the early 2000s 2000-2002.
I also remember Bow Wow being pretty big with his harlem shake.
Luda was heavy. His videos were all over MTV and radio. -
-
Eminem as far as popularity around the globe in 02 ? was crazty from sales, to chart hit singles to the anger managment tour infront of 80K crowds to the hype in general.
-
Ja Rule

Yeah but Em was also on TRL, getting played on non Hip Hop stations, was doing tours on his Anger Managment Tour where 80k-90k crowds were in attendence so his ? made Ja's popularity and love look minior in comparission.
-
man please it wasnt ja rule he was hot but he also getting murderded on 50 mixtapes it was prolly luda, dipset, well the rock in general
-
i remember nelly been ? everywhere, now nobody cares about that talentless ?

Yeah Eminem Show went Diamond qnd sold over a Million in a week, With Out Me reached the top 5 on the Billboard, Lose Yourself reached number 1, 8 Mile came out and made crazy money.
Usmarin and Jamaicas pride wouldn't let em be real in this case lmao. -

Idk, but they had him at #2 for the year 2001 tho. -
I have that issue of the source I think ice cube was on the cover.
IMO ja rule ran 2002 but you can make an argument for eminem, jay, nas, nelly, etc -
It was most definitely Ja Rule and probably Nelly 2nd...That's why I don't get why people get caught up in those MTV rankings nowadays being "hot" can run out any moment. Being skilled is what keeps artist around for the long run ie: Jay,Nas,Em, etc. from that era.

Did Ja Rule have an Album that sold a Million in a week like The Eminem Show in 02?
Did he have an Album that sold Diamond like The Eminem Show?
Did he have a Single like Lose Yourself that spent the highest at number 1 for the longest time ever in history in 02?
Did he have a movie as big and profitable as 8 Mile in 02?
Lol nice try Jamaica
