basically an "in my opinion thread", post some of your unpopular thoughts regarding Hip Hop.
1. Kendrick could really change the game with the right push
2. Hip Hop music's value is based on how well it ages and replay value.
3. People tend to get lyrics/lyrical and wordplay confused.
4. The death of the Television Music Video helped to hurt Hip Hop album sales.
5. Hip Hop sets a standard for certain elements of our culture, execs and investors recognize this so they use/push rappers to be more pitchmen these days.

Jay Z has 2 classic albums. Black album and Blueprint 1
B.I.G is not a top 5 rapper
Not a 50cent fan but GRODT was a classic
Common is a top 5 rapper
TM 101 is a classic -
jay-z does have 2 classic albums - vol. 3 and B.P. 1
There is no greatest rapper ever because I could not just listen to one emcee forever. Pac included, I'm a pac fan too.
Big Pun had more flows than Biggie
Hip Hop culture is it's own entity, it's not skate-board culture, punk rock or none of that as much as they want to mix everything.
Being famous does not equal being Rich/Wealthy
-
Eminem has 3 classic albums.
50 cent's GRODT is my favorite album of all time.
Meek Mill is top 3 right now. -
TM 101>>>>>>>GRODT
it's a shame nobody knows about Rappin Ron outside the bay.
-
takeover is a better diss track than ether.
lil wayne has no classics.
big krit is top 10 in the game right now.
NY is irrelevant in rap rite now.
only can come w/ 4. *shrugs* -
ludacris is my fav rapper from the south
grodt was the last classsic album ive heard
these pop rappers rap better than rappers who actually try
most lyrical rappers are boring and pick horrible beats
fruity loops is ruining the industy ie lex lugar
-
Officer down was lloyd banks at his best
Young Buck was always a better rapper then 50 cent
People use buzz/image to ignore skill and ability
A LOT of todays Hip Hop fans get bored by Hip Hop beats and THINK dance/dubstep rap beats are HOT and FRESH
Hip hop is dead because the fans download, the other reasons are just guilt shifting excuses -
Wack - T.I, z-ro, trae, rick ross, lil wayne, drake, minaj, tyga

that artist should be lyrical all...like damn why cant a ? just make a club banger without getting critized so what if he only said 4 words in each line doesnt make it terrible
-
Commons album BE was boring as ? i only enjoyed it in my ? smoking days.
50 Cent hasnt fallen off as much as people say, the groupies that rode his ? when he first came out have moved on.

3. Kanye only has one Classic arguably, and that is Late Registration
4. Hip-Hop sucks because "the streets" keep co-signing wack ? , not because of White teenagers demanding Hip-Pop
5. The internet killed Hip-Hop. Mainstream rap was better when media channels were controlled and you had to buy albums from the music store. -
1. Only region putting out better music than the Bay right now is the south
2. Biggie overrated
3. 50 is one hit away from a comeback
4. Memphis Bleek has a classic album

AGREED -
1. 2 person collab albums are highly over rated and i would rather have solo albums from 2 of my favorite rappers
2. Modern Supergroups don't work just because all the rappers are talented especally when they are forced and do not have chemistry.
3. Drake and Nicki have not benifited from YMCOONMB its the other way around put them on indipident or other labels and they would have just as much success if not more
4. Atlanta hip hop is at an all time low with lackluster new artists like future, gucci, waka, and BOB who are shells of former great artists like Killer Mike, Andre 3K, Jeezy, etc. -
1.) Joe Budden is top 10 alive
2.) Tech N9ne should be considered in top 10 ever, he is a legend
3.) Blueprint 1 is overrated
4.) NY is still the standard for Hip-Hop
5.) "Takeover" is better than "Ether" -
albums with lazy lyrics hurt hip hop
young buck was the best out of g unit
prodigy sucks now
canibus (along with lil b) is the real definition of an internet rapper
young jeezy sucks, all of his albums do -

The Recession > TM 101 due to growth in lyrics and more diverse subject matter
NY will never again be the dominant place in hip hop
Internet buzz/mixtape dls do not translate to album sales
Big L is the best rapper to come out of NY
The South showed hip hop how to get money on an independent level -
1. Nastrodamus isn't as bad as people make it out to be
2. Block is Hot and C2 are classics.
3.Eminem best album was MMLP
4.GRODT is a classic
5. and co sign what dude said about three six mafia.
