All this dude does is uses a lot of compound multis and assonance. Its how it sounds more than what is said, his flow makes him sound better than he really is. I mean if you read his lyrics off of paper you wouldnt care. Thats why you dont see him venture outside of sound, i doubt he would get off on a Premo or Inkredibles type beat.

Em sucks!

Still lyrically superior to Jay-z...and please if Primo can make Fred ? Durst sound decent same can be done for Em...

Never cared for Em.

Eminem was like lil wayne in his prime. Great flow and delivery, but ? lyrics. Which works, because why have great lyrics if you can't make them sound interesting?
-
Lol at being better than Jay based on what classic body of work. Eminem has no substance as a lyricist, its all his flow. That ? aint no different thab someone like Twista.

U talking bout lyrics not Catalogue...Lyrically Jay is not Seeing Em ...LOL at Jay-Z fans trying to talk about substance... -
This thread again? The reason we banned Shadyteam was so we would'nt have to see threads like this
-
ehhh to each his own but I disagree..the compound multis and assonance may be his main way of being lyrical but it's not all that makes him a great lyricist..
plus to say he's "extremely" overrated is definitely a stretch imo -
Reasonable Doubr alone contains more quotables than Ems catalog.

I was riding around playing Marshal Matters LP yesterday and I felt stupid as hell.

nujerz you have to be trying to troll usmarine. there's no way you can say eminem seriously has better lyrics than jay. I'm not even that big of a fan of jay's, but it's clear hes better

imo lyrically yeah Em is better than Jay...I dont really like Jay-z ? like that...and I got all his albums except that WTT ? imo always felt dude was terribly overrated...so u can pretty much say how USmarine feels regarding Em... I feel same way regarding Jay-z from his debut. -
Lol @ Em being mentioned as a lyricist. Dude is above average, but that's where it stops. I could name countless emcees more lyrical than Em.

twista>>>>>>>>>>>
you ? is trippin if you don't think dude got lyrics -
Reading lyrics and spitting lyrics are very different. If you can't perform the lyrics the way the artist does that's not the artists fault. There's numerous tricks they use to make ? sound nice. Why is Eminem being singled out?
You can pick out just about any rapper and say the same thing. When you look up the lyrics you don't really get the nuances of their performance.
The ? he says and the way he says it is clever, nobody should be hatin on that. -
Eminems catalogs is very weak and has limited content but I would be fronting if I said dude can't spit with the best of them when he puts in effort
-
Naw that cracka can spit he just talk about stupid ? ...
-
he can spit, but the substance is secondary. lets use basketball as a metaphor, you got them and 1 ballers who can dribble circles around cats, make it look real easy and even do some things you've never seen, but when it comes to real nitty gritty organized ball it aint the same.
same way with the lyrical magicians, he can do word tricks but it's more about style than substance. -
Slug > Em

@yung_reezy
Exactly. Everybody's game won't be the same. Reading lyrics doesn't give you the personal touch unless you're reading along while listening. You have a deeper respect for what they did and how they worked the beat.

This thread again... so are we just gonna bang on the dude, or are we gonna provide musical evidence?

^^^These ain't lyrical?
Sidenote: Granted, Em ain't a storyteller like say a Nas, Biggie or even a Jay Z... nor does he put together punchlines into coherent themes like a Masta Ace or GZA... I'd say his lyrical strengths are his wild out, crazy grimey ? , like Pun, Redman, Busta and them... yeah, there's some holes in his skill set, but very small ones, and not enough to say he's "extremely" overrated as a lyricist.
