Released a month ago with already nearly half-a-
million page views, rap song “Lil Mouse Get
Smoked” has created quite a stir. The song, which
celebrates violence and murder, was penned by a
13-year-old Lil Mouse who lives on the South Side
of Chicago. While the song continues to pick up
steam, NewsOne spoke with violence and mental
health expert Terrie Williams as well as Lil Mouse’s
producer, P. Noble, about whether this type of
music — in light of what’s happening in our
communities — is acceptable.

Since its debut, the song has caused a sizable
backlash in Chicago. The Chicago Sun-Times
reports:
Unfortunately, there has been no public outcry
over a raunchy video titled “Lil Mouse Get
Smoked” that debuted on YouTube on July 4,
and has since blown up the Internet. Nearly
300,000 people have viewed it, making the 13-
year-old the latest rap sensation to come out of
Chicago.
Known as “Lil Mouse,” the baby-faced rapper
repeatedly drops “F” and “N” bombs in a music
video that glorifies sex, drugs, and violence. At
one point, an adult male gets behind the teen
and makes it look like the teen is holding the
gun. On popular music video sites, the teen, who
allegedly lives in Roseland, is being promoted as
the “13-year-old rapper from the Wild, Wild
Hundreds.”
The gangster-style music video is even more
profane when you consider that Chicago is
desperately trying to reduce gang- and- drug-
related violence that helped push the homicide
rate up nearly 40 percent and claimed the lives of
so many of the city’s children.

Hey their just further Promiting Real ? ? .
But I'm sure it's crakkas fault. The school systems fault. The justice systems fault.
But not the fault of the parents our the community. The 2 things with the least power and influence within Black communities. -

cute joke tho... -
Roseland a ? anyway prob worse than englewood imo.

I don't approve at all but I disagree with the chick calling it "child abuse", its just a kid rapping, but the ? is inappropriate as ? . He shouldn't be cussing or trying to be a gangster. Hasn't that lil ? heard of Yummy Sandifer?
I think the guy who made the video is irresponsible. No adult should have filmed that nonsense, but its not like he out there doing what he raps about, he's just rapping. I'm cool with it on that level but the little hoodrat needs to be doing something more positive. -
da money dance funny as hell tho lol
-
Im outraged! He needs to be at home doing his damn homework so he can wake up the next morning and walk to Chicago public schools where it's much more safe--wait---? ...let the lil ? rap before he gets himself killed walking to school
-
Roseland is bad, but I think Englewood is the worst hood in Chicago and America per crime capita for neighborhoods
-
Its not a good look 2 15 year old kids latino kids just got shot and killed in Chicago and a brother one of the victims was walking with. Not the kids fault no direction hopefully he makes money and moves out the hood young.
-
Smh but that "Get smoked" beat is hard as hell though.
-
Who lets their daughter be in a video with a Lil 13 year old talking about riding round with his ? ?
Look all those adults in his community in the back ground shinning and smilin and dancing with his ass. -
Now you've touched on my issue with all this: why the ? are all these adults co-signing this ? ? That ? just makes them look so ? stupid and irresponsible.

LOL -
His momna probably ? the producer, an told him to put her son on a track.
-
He looks like my little brother. I have the strange urge to slap this lil ? .
-
I should make a powerful articulate post about the black community.
but that lil ? keeps it real -
He's what the hood would consider a genius.
I don't know why rhyming words impress Black Folks so. -
I couldn't even hear the song the beat was banging too much...lol. WTF was up with that?
