white people will buy their own instead of getting that block bootleg 3 weeks before that album dropped.

Beyonce didn't tour to push her album, i don't think she was going for the big sales specifically either. Which in itself is ironic, people ? and complained about her previous albums saying she should make more soulful and heartfelt music, and as soon as she did people started talking about her sales. lmfao
If i was a artist, i would be the biggest sellout, i would not give a ? about the marginal fans (purist). -

She ain't have a man hating single...she got pregnant and happy and started singing about being in love...female fans didn't want that from her -
Alicia Keys is one of the greats period. Definitely underated. I'm just now really getting into her music after listening to the lyrics of like you'll never see me again. And I like this colabo with John Mayer.

I just thought it was because of that generic ass single, I mean people may like it and they play that ? like 100 times a day, but its not up to her standards, so why buy an album that has weak generic single from an artist that usually has great single, idk that my opinion

She's actually getting sued for ? Fire too, she basically took the melody and some of the lyrics from a popular song.
-
Nobody is selling the eay they used to but, she did good numbers by 2012 standards
Nobody cares about her personal life -

Lol ? that is not what that lawsuit is about...it's about her apparently using a line or two...not the melody..the part where she says "She's a lonely girl and it's a lonely world"...that one small ass part is what the lawsuit is about -
ehhh outside of her first two album everything been so so, she's def fell off if you ask me....but every artist goes there up and down in there careers, she just need to take time off to reinvent herself and let the homewrecker stigma die off a bit....
-
could it be because her singles suck?
-
The industry is upside down and nothing of what it used to be. Like someone said here, if it ain't 909s no one is listening to you anymore. Sad, but true. Oversaturation of music from bad artists also did this, IMO.
-
Theres only a group of people that sell like that now. Why people are still comparing sales in this day and age to sales from years ago is beyond me. Besides that co-sign what @skylerwhite said...
-
she went from 400k first week in 09 to 150k in 12

If she'd dropped something around Empire State of Mind, she would've done numbers.
she dropped an album one month after that single came outNow she is doing Keysha Cole numbers. I thought she was one of those artist who could survive the storm of the music business and still squeak out platinum albums. It's not like she abandoned her content heavy music and jumped on some pop/house music like a Usher. Where is her fanbase at?
keysha cole isnt even doing keysha cole numbers
a. keys last album was very good imo. it was mostly r&b so i wouldnt compare her transition to the ? usher put out this past summer -
R&B as a whole is having poor sales:
Chris Brown- 125K
Usher- 125K
Trey Songz- 125K
Frank Ocean- 125K
Miguel- 71K
Keyshia Cole- 96K
Alicia Keys- 160K
Those are the first week numbers. -
Maybe they aint feeling the album..is the album good by the way ? never got to listening to it.

It lies somewhere between As I Am and Element of Freedom not nearly as good as her first two, but it's got some nice songs on it. These stood out to me:

Putting Nicki Minaj on an already mediocre and generic lead single screams desperation, and people can smell that a mile away.
-
Just don't think the overall music was good enough this time around.
-
Like all these entertainers and musicians don't sleep around. ? outta here
What makes Alicia's case different?
She ain't gonna push numbers anyway but she makes good music IMO
These ? that 'sell' eg Beyonce, Rihanna, Taylor, GaGa all put out very disposable and wack music anyway
Beyonce last album is dope
Rihanna fell off with the last two but "Loud" was tough too -
elle varner made me forget about her. I like Alicia better as an actress. she samples too much for someone who has musical talent such as she has.
-
Her last album was pretty weak IMO, the one before was dope but yeah this one wasn't very good...
She been trying to look white lately, I thought it was a scheme to expand her fanbase to having more white people like her or whatever, perhaps it backfired though I dunno...
-
Alicia stay recycling her songs...
