I'ma 90's baby, so anything before 94 is just dated to me.
I barely like illmatic and RTD, but i act like I do so i can blend in with Hip Hop heads. -
Anything before Paid In Full.
-
some 90's east coast rap, no hate
-
Most ? before 00's. I still like 90's ? and some 80's ? but it still sounds dated. 00's might be to other people, but I'm nostalgic about that ? cause that's when I fully got into hip hop
-
None because I'm not ? who relies on feelings and nostalgia factors.
-
no day of the week will you catch me listening to, "i said the hip-hop the hibby"
-
anything pre mid 90s.
-
None really. I was a lil kid in the early 80s. Sometime they play like "planet rock" in the car. Takes me back love that song and other oldies from the entire 80s. Probably cause i hear them so seldom they always sound fresh. I wouldnt wanna own those songs but to hear them every now and then is cool.

To me 1992 was they year before we went from the old school flow (Rakim, early Tribe, De La Sol,etc) to new school sound. Production changed up and became more advanced too.

i wouldn't say a period but just certain artists in certain periods ? sounds dusty. Like Onyx ? sounds dusty to me now but that whole period isn't dusty

Alot of that No Limit ? did not age well, it just sounds low budget and mass produced.

born in 92 I hate a majority of 80's rap. da way they rhymed just annoyed da ? outta me lol dat hippy to the hippity hop ? basic ass lyrics wit basic beats didnt stand da test of time to me. Outside of Public Enemy, LL, SOME Kool Moe Dee, nd Kool G rap i cant ? wit 80's rap heavy
-
Groups like Run DMC, Kid N Play, Digital Underground...
Also all the ? that was gimmicky and trendy seems old now, like Fabolous in the early 2000's and his style of dress, anybody rapping about throwbacks, crystal, Ja Rule, Chingy, Nelly...
Jermaine Dupri is also notorious for making dated sounding music from the second he puts it out -
I hate threads like this. How come people are always trying to retire and shelve rap music all the time? You don't ever hear anybody talk about The Beattles sounding dated. Hell you have white artists trying to recreate that old sound and ? . You want to say the hippity hop ? is dated, but I'll put any of them old school cats up against some of these current stars! How can something sound dated yet a lot of these rappers steal beats and lyrics from the older ? ?

The 80's
Not hatin', most ? from the 80's just sounds wack to me. -

I along with many others, think the Beatles first 2 years of music making (about 15 albums and 20+ million records sold) sound dated compared to the wrest of their collection...
Maybe you just dont have an eclectic enough understanding of music to realize this isn't a hip-hop exclusive question but this does happen to be a hip hop forum so why would we talk about what sounds dated in another genre?
You're just sounding butt hurt bro -
All. I'm saying is I'm tired of people usually younger dudes trying to retire old music.
