In an interview with SOHH, Rap Veteran AZ discussing a number of issues; of those is the possible release of “Doe or Die II”, a mixtape that the rapper says could, very well, be his last project. Stating the current state of Hip Hop as the primary reason for the contemplation of retirement from the game.
“Going from a major to independent, it’s two different zones,” he said. “I was doing independent from like ’05 and it’s a lot of work and then every few years, the game changes itself. This [Doe or Die II] might be definitely be my last album.”
The rapper stated that while the game has definitely changed, he never lost his passion for the game.
“I actually never lost [my hunger] to be honest. It was just a matter of the stars lining up and the doors opening and that certain sound coming back into existence.”
The emcee says that he may take a different approach with his last project.
“I might put a mixtape out and then put an album out because this is the last hurrah for me. I’ve got a couple of cats that are ready to come out behind me and I’ve got a good starting team and so I’m just going to play the game.”
The last release for the rap veteran was his 2009’s Legendary, an album that featured Sheek Louch and Hell Rell.

-
thank ?
HALLELUJAH!!! -
1st- rappers never truly retire, they just slow down. not one mc has ever retired from the game.
2nd- az said he was retired years ago (around aziatic) but came back to do the indy thing.
3rd- if it is his last joint, he need to go out with a bang...that means getting his homie on the mic one more time. we need an az/nas joint for this decade. -

Cosign.. also, AZ should have top notch production..
I got a gut feeling Raekwon will make an appearance on Doe or Die II.. -
He better get that damn Nas feature..
AZ has always been Mad underrated. Never got the props he deserves, Doe or Die to me was like Illmatics sequel, ? was ill. His last few projects have been solid but werent anything amazing. Expecting nothing but dopeness from this album if it truly is his last. -

Aziatic is a top-five Rap album of 2002 imo, along with The Fix, Lost Tapes, A Gangster and a Gentleman and Lord Willin.. -
Aziatic is awesome from top to bottom. Highly slept on piece.

glad to see some people around here appreciate az. been waitin for this album for years. like everybody said he needa go out tough. some kanye, no id, premier production. I never understood why these guys aside from premo never wanted to work with him when they appreciate lyricists.

I Hope Its Not His Last Project. AZ is severely underated
-
he said he was done years ago. retiring after DOD2. Hopefully he goes out with a bang.

AZ might go down as the most underrated rapper of all time.
-
I hope it's not his last one. If it is, I'm keeping fingers crossed for something on Aziatic level. His talent was wasted on his last projects.

shame man, always rated AZ
-
One of the few MC's that got a effortless flow. Damn shame this came out in 2010. Talk about music to ride to.

Az is top 5 of all time for me. With that said, his last few projects have not been very good, they ve had no meaning, they felt like just a bunch of average songs grouped together. No cohesive sound, no theme. Hopefully he'll put done serious effort into this possible last album.

AZ to ill to retire, sad that he not getting the love he deserves though
-
Whats He Gonna Tour On? You Need Something To Promote To Get That Show Money...Thats The Main Way Rappers Are Eatin Nowadays...That Quiet Money Is Gonna Become Whisper Money
