There's a lot of true sisters out here who aren't "house ? ". But I get your point, it seems a lot of black women are naive into thinking that we live in this post-racial world. Even the so called conscious sisters are a little sketchy. In fact they're some of the main one's, wearing emblems of Africa and their natural hair and standing side by side with a white dude. lol
Truthfully, I think a lot of sisters have extremely low expectations for black men. There are a lot reasons behind this as well. Every woman desires a sense of security. They (black women) know that their men are the most emasculated and powerless men on the planet. Not by choice but by design. From slavery onward we have been unable to defend and protect our women. White men, despite having historically exploited and defiled black women, are still seen as knights in shining armor. This is why with almost every race of people, to marry a white man is looked upon as a "step up". White men are viewed as the cream of the crop. The fact that most are beneficiaries of their ruthless ancestors flies straight out the window. So if white men are viewed in this manner, how does that make us look as black men who have been placed at the very bottom of the racial hierarchy? And more importantly how does this make black women feel about her black men? The effects of emasculation are not only devastating to our psyche as black men but they are equally as devastating to black women as well.
Now I hate to take it back to slavery but a lot of what happened back then permanently changed the dynamics of how black men and women view one another. Imagine being a black man and hearing the screams and wailing of your daughter and wife being ? by white men. You are completely powerless and can't do anything to help them get out of that situation without getting yourself killed. All you can do is bend your knees in prayer and try to block it out. This is exactly what happened back then and over time we not only became detached spiritually but became highly resentful towards each other. Fast forward to now and the black man is constantly being portrayed as immature and highly irresponsible. And the black women is constantly being told how strong she is and how she's the "backbone" of the community. It's nothing more than a continuation of our emasculation as if being powerless isn't enough. We have to constantly be told "who" we are in order to keep us where we are.
Think about that...
This is why it is so important for black people to be presented with the truth when it comes to our ongoing struggles. Because if we don't know where we are and how we got here as a people, we'll be duped into accepting anything.
It is a very hard pill to swallow as black men to know that we may be looked upon as inadequate by our own women. But to a women who cannot read between the lines of the present and is in complete darkness to knowledge of our past, should it really be all that surprising? Let it a motivator for us to get our ? together as men and finally be in a position where can determine our own destiny without interference.. -

Loving yourself, who u are and what u choose to represent/embrace is a separate issue than what color your partner is...unless of course your partner has a problem with u embracing it.
I don't see why interracial dating is still such a complex concept to some people.

Well from what I remembered I thought they had shows equivalent to MTV's Real World, but a black version. I used to watch rap city everyday and some old shows like Martin but I remember I stopped watching cuz I thought all the new programs were garbage.
I also thought it was a stereotypical channel and that if it is represented as black entertainment television why did it seem so much like a black version of MTV, who's target audience were young teens.
There was barely any informative or educational programs on there and I think I remember hearing that they had to stop news segments because they got no ratings for it.
All I'm saying is they shouldnt have slapped the "Black" brand on it but they did it just to build a black TV market. And u could tell in the quality of its programs. -
