Uhhh It's lip "synching"
Lol @ lip singing -
LOL. I never understood why the show was set-up on lipsyncing especially the great legends they had on. Don't think that's something they choose to do tho. Only a rare few didn't i think DMX didn't, Al Green or someone else didn't & a few others.
Other than that i disagree. Soul Train's legacy is still large and just looking at the amount of great artists that's been on there, crazy. -

SOUL TRAIN WASNT ALWAYS LIP SYNC.. THEY DID PERFORM LIVE
-
Soul train was big to us black people I get that I'm just saying the PERFORMANCES were black eyes on the show honestly ... Curtis mayfield lip singing ... Makes a ? wanna cry
-
I never understood why they made the rappers lip sync. The ? looked foolish.

Only reason I'd watch Soul Train is if I felt like making a "coontastic" GIF.
-
Soul Train was hype, definitely some cutting edge stuff happening on there. I hated all the "hip-hop" rip offs though..and there were so many of them.

Using Soul Train the possibilities for great GIFs are endless. -
soul train during the early nineties provided much spank material for the spank bank during my middle school years reminisces on fond memories of those fine ass twins and that thick Korean chick that always wore those tight ass skirts. many Saturday mornings were spent in the bathroom after 1pm.

Easy to say in this era in time
Had you been a lil kid in the early 80's nobody would have came to this conclusion
But in retrospect, I never realized how many ? were on soul train up until recent years.... as a kid with an innocent mind it was something you didn't think about up until Youtube came on the scene and I was able to enjoy soul train line vids. -

Don probably told them to do to save money. Don was probably a cheap bastard. this is the same dude that paid his dancers with chicken snack boxes.
-
? paid people in a dry ass 2 piece and biscuit joint
-
Well I know a few people that used to dance on Soul Train back in the 80's and 90's and it is true about the 2 piece chicken and soda(It was non name brand) Don was very much in Joe Jackson mode on set during tapings(He would stop a take in a New York minute if he saw something he didn't like) The reason why lip synching was common on the show was b/c it saved them money. On the VH-1 Special they had on Soul Train a few years back Don explained that when Barry White wanted to perform live that they had to hire extra crew to build on an extra wheel on the stage(The stage at that time resembled the soul train mascot) and cater to the band which cost him a lot of money. SN: Don didn't really fraternize with the dancers too much from what the ex dancers told me.

I remember being in prison people would wake up early on Sat morning just to catch that ? . Then the bathrooms would fill up afterwards. #scust
