Wtf ? talking bout Canibus and lol wayne for?

BIG is the superior MC period. 2pac was more diverse in content but when it came to spitting bars BIG KILLS HIM.

Big got lines that crush most ? careers the "I'm pressing hard I'm leaving creases/ cuttin up bodies and talkin to the pieces", that's just some ill ? , like who thinks to say that? The Wickedest joint too is bananas. Seriously this ? said he smacking babies at they christening.

That ? put tears in my eyes.

Ummmmm maybe its because we drifted off into a discussion about LYRICISM, the one thing Bis was really known for?

I swear, do people even read post anymore?

Canibus has no business even being discussed with the class of people we talking about here. I'm actually tryna get ? back on topic which is PAC vs BIG nobody else matters.

I know they were beefing, but I never understood why they constantly get compared. Two different types of rappers. Pac used his music to get his message across and BIG used his music to get the sales and show off his skills mostly. Apples and oranges. Tupac vs Ice Cube or Biggie vs Reakeon is a more logical match up than Pac and Biggie.

strip both of them of all the influence, fame, legacies etc and have them go bar for bar and Big taking it

People who are saying Pac is good rapper because he has charisma, the perfect voice, and lyrical content.

If Pac goes up with B.I.G. on tracks.

B.I.G. is winning at least 7-3

What I'm learning from this thread is when rating who's the better "rapper" what your really asking is who's better at lyricism cuz that seems to be the only thing ppl seem to keep bringing up so to be consistent let that be how others are rated in other polls as well I don't wanna hear topic or flow or delivery or crafting of songs etc because when talking about who's the better "rapper" what that really means is who's better at lyricism.....But ask yourself who you feel is the greatest "rapper" of all time then ask yourself if that same person is the greatest lyricis of all time....

? don't even know what lyricist means .... It's actually quite the vague term by definition ...at least if trying to be used to gauge degree of ability

Guarantee if you ask 5 different ? what it meant within the context of hiphop you'd get 5 different answers ...or some foggy amalgamation of adjectives to describe said word ... That why these threads are funny

Pac was an amazing lyricist who could run the gamut as far as literary tools to express his point on the mic ...biggie was also amazing

But like I always say about biggie .....just not enough material ....especially when comparing him to a dude with the track record of pac ...like bruh c'mon now the sheer amount of quality lyrical output in itself makes this "debate" a little wild

I was usin him as an example because hes on of the most technological in terms of rap from metapors to vocab and I was tryna point out hhypocrisy how sometimes that ? matters when the IC wants it to matter( whenver we compare Pac to somebody) but Whenever its not pac or a down south artist we give no ? about whos Technically greater. They just rappin ass rapidy rap ? to yall other times.

a friend of mine let me use his phone so I copied this

o this click I'm dedicated, criminal orientated
An Outlaw initiated, blazed and faded
Made for terror, major league ? pray together
? in they grave while my real ? play together
We die clutchin glasses, filled with liquor bomblastic
Creamated, last wishes ? smoke my ashes
High sigh why die wishin, hopin for possibilities
I'll mob on, why they copy me sloppily
Cops patrol projects, hatin the people livin in them
I was born an inmate, waitin to escape the prison
Went to church but don't understand it, they underhanded
? gave me these commandments, the world is scandalous
Blast til they holy high; baptize they evil minds
Wise, no longer blinded, watch me shine trick
Which one of y'all wanna feel the degrees?
    ? freeze facin Black Jesus

I was just listening to it on my playlist,so by some of you this isnt lyrical huh?

It's not that Pac ain't lyrical, that's not the topic.

It's that bar for bar Pac has no chance against BIG.

Post a dope Pac verse, guaranteed BIG will have a better one.

Fame, Legacy, song writing is not a factor here.

Uhh.. I'm flamin' gats, aimin' at, these ?
Maniacs, put my name in raps, what part the
Game is that? Like they hustle backwards
I smoke Backwoods and Dutchies, you can't touch me
Try to rush me, slugs go, touchy-touchy
You're bleeding lovely, wit'chyo, spirit above me
Or beneath me, your whole life you live sneaky
Now you rest eternally, sleepy, you burn when you creep me
Rest where the worms and the weak be
My nine flies, baptize, rap guys
With the Holy Ghost, I put holes in most
You hold your toast shaky, slippin' tryin to break me
Look what you made me do, brains blew
My team in the marine-blue, six Coupe
Skied it out, weeded out, cleanin' out -- the block
For distances, givin' long kisses ? !

Having meaningful songs and content does make one lyrical in the realm of hip hop.

How many times are you people who are too stubborn to realize this?

The first verse of that track is venomous, all these years everybody BIG knows has been saying it wasnt a diss record but ? who have heard it know better. It wasnt random bars.

If we're talking about only who's better at lyricism then maybe the title should be changed because I always thought when talking about being a better rapper you took into account more then just lyricism cuz if that was the case then what separates a lyrics from a rapper because ALL rappers aren't lyrics and if there is a difference those the whole aren't of who's better at being a lyrics shouldn't matter since we're judging on more then just that....

No we're saying that by the technical aspects you judge a rapper in. Biggie is superior to Pac. Not considering influence blah blah blah

I'm disappointed and disgusted by my fellow hip hop fans for the fact that tupac's lyrical ability is being questioned

Say that ? picked harsh production
Say that ? had too many features
Say you jus didn't feel his music

But to question his lyrical ability is a slap in the face

OK and what are the technical aspects then cuz all I'm seeing is bar for bar talk... Is that what qualifies as technical aspects when judging a rapper or is that more technical aspects for judging a lyricist because the two aren't the same...If the question is simple who's the better lyricist even as a PAC fan I can give that to BIG but is being a better lyricist and being a better RAPPER the same thing??? I don't think so or everybody who picks their goat would pick the greatest lyricists of all time which never happens

Biggie had an amazing voice and an impeccable flow ... The way he would drag his multis and line rhymes was legendary

But this ? about him being a better "lyricist" is silly and those attributes certainly don't make him the better rapper

The greatest thing an orator can do is make you feel the point or emotion their trying to get across within their form of expression ... And nobody did that better than pac

Being a lyricists is just one part of being a rapper. Besides, that. You have the complexity of rhyme structure. Pacs rhyme schemes were pretty elementary when compared to Big

Here is an example. Look at the internal rhyme scheme structure in BIG's verse

I make yo' mouthpiece obese like Della Reese
When I release, you loose teeth like Lil' Cease

Same song now this time he rhymes two syllables at a time while employing internal rhymes

I'm flamin gats, aimin at, these ?
mani-acs, put my name in raps, what part the
    game is that

    check out tupac's rhyme stucture

I bet you got it twisted you don't know who to trust
So many playa hating ? tryin to sound like us
Say they ready for the funk, but I don't think they knowin
Straight to the depths of hell is where those cowards goin

Pretty basic rhyme schemes. I'm not saying pac didn't employ complex rhyme schemes or big never rhymed simple but this pretty much what did on average. I picked two random songs
