Haven't read, but I would definitely be interested. Michael Eric Dyson is awesome.

Good book, some of the critiques were interesting. I haven't read it in years it's still on my shelf though.
A few of the authors criticized Nas for glorifying Africa which I thought was crazy. -
I might read this one day

This is a good read. I just might pick it up again.

Interesting chapter by Kyra Grant compares "I Know I Can" video Dir. By Chris Robinson to child porn. Bugged out

Michael Eric Dyson is an intelligent cat, but he is annoying as ? . If he wasn't involved I would be interested. Every time he tries to make a point he quotes a Biggie, 2 Pac, Nas or Jay Z line. LOL

You know that ? don't read

Read the book, and my father took it to read for himself. He also asked to borrow my "Illmatic" cd as well. He dug the ? out that book, and the songs from the album reminded him of growing up in the 50's and 60's. Pops 76, turn 77 Feb 2nd. Glad I can vibe with my old man on a lot of different topics

He didn't write most of it, if that helps. He got different writers to do a chapter on each song -

@SnuffDaddy Kyra Gant's chapter discusses in depth frame by frame, with time marks and all, how the video for "I Can" sexualizes young girls. One instance is the camera work focusing on certain body parts filmed in slow-mo. You can check out a sample of her chapter on google books.
