Illmatic is by far his best album but i dunno about a part 2 i don't think he is capable of making an album as good as Illmatic again

Sequels with albums are rarely better than the first one.
    Blueprint 2
    MMLP2

That whole sequel ? is ? ' awful.

These ? should make 'sequels' if the album is gonna sound similar to the first. Like Kanye makes a College Dropout 2, it should have the same sound as the first. All these sequels that are only such for publicity.

    That damn MMLP2 smh terrible

Sequels to me don't make sense it the album doesn't tell a story.

like most sequels could've been named something else and it wouldn't have affected anything.

If Lupe made The Cool 2 it would make sense because it was a concept album and he was telling a story throughout

No. Nas captured the feel of Illmatic from his birth to 19...that time capsule of creating that album that resonated pain, ghetto edge and was Golden Age influenced. He will never recapture that feeling again.

Why? Every album gets compared to illmatic anyway. No matter how good the second is, people will only ? that it's not the first. It would only take away from the greatness of it

With that being said I always thought stillmatic was illmatic 2 in the first place

Nas discusses what it would take for him to record "Illmatic 2."

Nas’ Illmatic is one of the most acclaimed albums in Rap history. The Queensbridge rapper said that he’s considered making Illmatic 2.

thought about it before,” Nas says during an interview with VIBE Magazine. "I definitely thought about that, but it has to flow. It has to be natural. I can work on that and then if I don’t like it, I’ma scrap it. I have to feel it, man. It got to be honest.”

Released in 1994, Illmatic featured the songs “One Love” and “Halftime.” During a 2012 interview, he said that the former was inspired by the letters he wrote to his incarcerated friend, something he reimagines on the song.

“When I was writing that record I had a friend who was in jail and the way he ended the letter I would be like ‘sincerely’ [or] whatever,” Nas said at the time. "[Instead] it was ‘one love.’ People were saying, 'One love’ everywhere so it was, ‘One love’ just felt strong. And I wrote the song as letters to friends of mine that were locked up…Q-Tip produced it and Q-Tip is so talented and I’m such a big fan of A Tribe Called Quest and all they albums that I felt like he brought such a jazz, but yet another vibe to the whole meaning of a ? song. Yes, it was written letters to guys in jail but the vibe of [the] music was just real smooth.”

In 2001, Nas released Stillmatic, which was deemed an unofficial follow-up to Illmatic.

Is there gonna be a recorded version of the Illmatic 20th anniversary he's playing with an orchestra later this year?

    If so, then 2014 just got better for a ? . ..

wtf does this even mean...illmatic is a classic, so shouldn't nas be trying to creatively to recreate illmatic every single time? just naming it illmatic 2 doesn't mean anything, it's just the name of a record

More substance and emotion, better hooks (best hooks ever in a hip hop album imo), better production, flawless song writting. And my fave song ever Stronger Than I Was is on the album

Nas will never outdo illmatic. He shouldnt really have to anyway. How do you outdo the best album ever?

But, if he gets down with the same producers, amd they put together an album with all their updated styles and make it dope, then as a fan id be happy.

Yeah agreed fully he will never out do Illmatic but it defintley is not 1 of the best albums ever. It's a great album for it's technical lyricisim and technical spitting but not 1 of the best albums ever to me

That album is by a huge distance his best
