Kokane Says Ice Cube Is "Doing Something Wrong And Foul" With N.W.A Biopic

Exclusive: Kokane says that Ice Cube should talk to Eazy-E children and Above The Law, among others, in order to properly tell N.W.A's story.

As a member of Eazy-E's Ruthless Records, G-funk pioneer Kokane helped the Godfather of Gangster Rap build a brand that would serve as the prototype for Hip Hop's independent label business model.

But with the buzzed about N.W.A biopic, which is being produced by Ice Cube's CubeVision production company, already in the casting process, Kokane worries that his former boss' legacy is being misrepresented.

In an exclusive interview with HipHopDX, the west coast crooner says he refuses to sit idly by.

"We put a proposal together called 'Protecting the Ruthless Legacy' that we want to get on The Arsenio Hall Show," said Kokane, whose critically new album, Shut da F#@! Up & Cut Da Checc, hit iTunes Jan. 14. "We gettin' it done right now as we speak. Everybody's agreed. And it's gonna be beautiful to see. We'll have all [Eazy’-Es] kids come on, MC Ren, Big Hutch, Yella, J.J. Fad and we're gonna tell the real story because, Ice Cube, I don't fault you for doing this movie. You're a genius, and you show that stereotypes can be lifted off of us, but at the same time you are doing something that's wrong and foul. You're purposely leaving out certain information that is vital to the story."

Kokane said that Ice Cube is making a movie without getting the facts from the people that witnessed it first-hand.

"It's sad cause you see Cube, you see all these people doing this N.W.A movie honoring Eazy, but they're not even getting internal,” Kokane said. "They're lying saying that they're getting in touch with people, but Eazy's children didn't even get a phone call. I didn't get a phone call. Above The Law didn't get a phone call and it's like they're doing it for profit, but they're not doing it authentically from the heart. It's unethical and it's foul. it's like you don't care. You guys care about getting money. But you know the good thing about it: There's always hope out there to have the real story told. It's increments. You gotta go back and touch the people if you wanna get the truth, because there's so much blockage as far as capital. It's a story that if it's told right and somebody can ? open this thing wide enough, everything else is gonna be the prototype for every other story. Trust me."

Kokane is looking to bring the West Coast full-circle with his new label, Bud E Boy Ent., which features a roster of artists and producers from various locations, including one that with ties to the past.

"I'm working with Eazy's son, E3, and he sounds just like his dad," Kokane said. "It's fitting because the way I'm running my company comes from the blueprint that Eric [Eazy-E's given name] started

I always liked Kokane and he's been Ruthless since the early days.

He killed like 8-9 songs on Tha Last Meal too.

As far as the movie, I don't think it's even hit production or casted anybody so let's see how it plays out.

Eazy-E WAS Nwa. I don't think u understand that tho. Eazy-E was the influence and inspiration behind the music. He wasn't just some random ass ? that funded the group. E was about that life.

Eazy E was just a business ? who saw an opportunity to exploit a situation. Like dude above said, Cube wrote the lyrics and Dre produced. The music was there before Eazy even entered the picture.

...Bottom line...Kokane needs to make his own straight to dvd movie and stop stirring up ? ...

No one knew who Kokane was until Ruthless Records was a already a graveyard and was throwing rocks at Death Row Records.

False, E recruited them to form a street rap group, the 1st of it's kind. Both Cube & Dre have stated that they weren't making different types songs then Eric Wright told them about an idea he had. True Cube laid the script and Dre produced the score for the projects, but it was mostly E's story they were telling and emulating. Cube was a college kid & Dre was in a P Funk band. Eazy E gave them ? Attitude and a platform

Eazy was the group regardless of what yall say, and the reason they were so huge and perceived the way they were

With that said however, maybe Kokane just need to do a biography movie or something because the only details he or the kids could offer is ? that wouldnt make the movie anyway. I dont imagine they will delve to far into Eazy's past life besides the trivial fact that he was a fairly successful dope boy

Lets face it, Hollywood infamous for truncating history, dude should not be so offended... I do hope they are at least getting MC Ren and Yella to consult tho unlike what he is implying

Didnt Above the Law beat down Cube's homeboys at the New Music Seminar while Cube ran?

Why would Cube go to them for advice?

Dre made all the beats and Cube wrote all the music..
There was no NWA after Dre and Cube left..
? was bigger than just Eazy-E..
wrong, youngsters always get that twisted. cube wrote one song for eazy. ren was eazy's real friend from the hood and actually did 90% of the writing for eazy and dre, with d.o.c. also contributing. cube left during the tour for straight outta compton. after that they made an ep, 100 miles and running, and niggaz4life all without cube. in fact when they did niggaz4life cube had been gone for 2 years. so there was plenty of nwa after cube left. also it's a fact that after cube left nwa in 88 he and eazy never actually saw each other again in person. so thats kokane's point that cube never knew eazy after he blew up and when nwa was at it's peak, so he would want to talk to him, ren, yella, above the law the people that were really there. cube was only around for the first part of recirding straight out of compton, the big tours and celebrating being platinum, cube was gone and doing his own thing

cube was rapping like the beastie boys. look it up he was in a group with jinx called cia. dre was in world class wrecking crew. cube wrote boyz in the hood to be given to a first set of rappers that eazy was going to put out and they didn't like the record and bounced. since cube has based it on a fictionalized version of eazy anyway he ended up recording it. the whole image of the group the way they carried themselves and themse in there music was all based on eazy

Cube was there and he wrote straight outta compton. Everything else, what's wrong with Cube going to Dre or DOC since they were around?
