Will speaks on his worst L.
Back in 2013, Will Smith starred in the M. Night Shyamalan directed flick After Earth, which co-starred his son Jaden, making it the second film the father and son duo had together. After the initial release, the movie was critically panned across the board and failed the match the box office success of Smith’s previous efforts.
In a recent interview with Esquire, Smith referenced a quote his TV aunt gave his character on Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, advising “Don’t let success go to your head and success go to your heart.”, which he says meant more to him after the films failure commercially and critically. “That was a valuable lesson for me a few years ago with ‘After Earth, That was the most painful failure in my career.”
No actor is immune to bad films, as Smith had another flop on the resume with 1999′s Wild Wild West. But he claims After Earth’s failure mattered more for personal reasons. “‘Wild Wild West’ was less painful than ‘After Earth’ because my son was involved in ‘After Earth,’ and I led him into it. That was excruciating,”. After the box office results arrived that Monday, Smith said he was devastated for roughly 24 minutes until he received a phone call about his phone being stricken with Cancer, which he says put things viscously into perspective.
At that moment, Will says he had an epiphany.
“That Monday started the new phase of my life, a new concept: Only love is going to fill that hole,” Smith said. “You can’t win enough, you can’t have enough money, you can’t succeed enough. There is not enough. The only thing that will ever satiate that existential thirst is love. And I just remember that day I made the shift from wanting to be a winner to wanting to have the most powerful, deep and beautiful relationships I could possibly have.”
With all those box office smashes, I think he’ll be alright. Jordan didn’t make every shot. – @Rocko_CNK

phones can get cancer now?
-
It was painful for us too Will, you are not alone
-
I thought it was better than Wild Wild West & Hitch. And i don't even remember I Robot to compare that.
But if he going by box office numbers I see what hes saying. His kid came off as a ? during the promotional run probably didn't help the numbers -
that movie was painful period and he has m knight to blame. i bet will gives m knight shamylan the side eye next time he sees him.

Don't know about that. Was listening to a podcast(think it was What Are You Doing Movie?), and people on set were saying Will had a whole lot more to do with that movie than M.Knight. -

fresh prince will get back in the game with focus
and rebound with suicide squad and bad boys 3 -
The film had great potential but Will didn't make bold and sensible decisions as the film's producer.
However the film had a $130m budget and still gathered over $243m globallyfresh prince will get back in the game with focus
and rebound with suicide squad and bad boys 3
I'm hoping that is a good film just for Will's sake. You can't have 2 back to back flops
How feasible is BB3? -
Sick and pained my wallet going to see that ? .... I can't lie, I ain't tryin to see Bad Boys 3....... I remember my junior year my ? hypin the movie and ? but this ? stay bettin the Utah Jazz was gon beat the Kings lol and smh....... I really don't wanna see a Bad Boys 3..... The first one was dope..... Didn't and don't need to see a 2 and 3...... I ? with that last Men In Black movie though........... Oh my point was Bad Boys 2 was garbage...........
-
Its not his worst movie imo
That honor goes to Hancock -

Some ? should just be left alone...... No diss to you ? but if they make a Bad Boys 3, I will ? your first born.....

I gotta agree with Will.
After Earth was a massive L.
There are just some jobs you gotta turn down. -
The movie wasn't THAT bad for a sci-fi flick.
You want to see a big budget clunker watch John Travolta's "Battlefield Earth".
My main issues with Will Smith's movie were the corny accents and the wonky science... -
That was literally one of the worst movies of all time.
I could ? M. Knight Shyamalan in broad day and no one would care. Such a horrible horrible director.
And wtf @ at watching MIB3 over Bad Boys 3. -
If Bruce Willis can do die hard 30 then I don't mind another bad boys
Not sold on focus but I hope its good
-
I dunno, Will Smith turned down The Matrix for Wild Wild West. Have a think about that for a moment.

Lol i reread that like 5 times seeing if I got it wrong. -
He need to do the liam neeson techniques and make a sequel but with a different title.
-
It wasnt a very good movie, but it was not one of the worst of all time.
There is some elite competition for that category. -
"my phone has cancer"
Yo I gotta use that one day -

will everyday when he remembers that

Don't mean ? ...Will got his strategy all planned out...he gonna try and smash the box office with focus and suicide squad and then do a quality dramatic film like pursuit of happyness or seven pounds to try and get back to that "academy" level.
