Krispy Kreme apologized after a store in the United Kingdom advertised a promotion for customers called KKK Wednesday, which was to be held this week.
"We do believe this was a completely unintentional oversight on the part of our longtime franchise partners in the U.K.," according to a statement shared with USA TODAY Network by company spokesperson Lafeea Watson.
KKK, which in this case was intended to stand for "Krispy Kreme Klub," is, of course, more infamously associated with the Ku Klux ? , a white supremacist hate group.
The store that created the event, which was meant to allow customers to come into the store to decorate doughnuts, is located in Hull, England.
"We are truly sorry for any inconvenience or offense this misstep may have caused our fans," the statement says, noting that the Hull location has offered assurances that it would be "taking greater precautions with their publicity materials in the future."
Watson said in an e-mail that the club was created by the Hull location and designed as a promotion for that store only.
The event gained attention after it was posted on the company's United Kingdom Facebook page, and online readers pointed out the double meaning of the name.
The post has since been removed from Facebook and all promotional materials have been removed from the store, according to Watson.

They knew wtf they were doing
Nah maybe not in this case. It was done by some British franchisors and not the corporation itself. Maybe KKK and their history isn't as well known over there as it is here, in which case it's more just ignorance than an attempt to be clever or malicious.
Krispy Kreme >>>>>>>>> wack ass dunkin donuts so I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt on this 1. -

Id like to buy that ? but i cant. The odds of not one person spelling that ? out without a question mark popping up over their head has got to be slim to none. -
So we're supposed to be offended every time we see three K's in a row? Unless they were clearly paying tribute to the ? , I see nothing wrong here.

lol im high as ? and this kilt me

They knew what they were doing. Just so happen the town is in a racist state where the KKK resides. White ppl are slick with their racist jabs

Ya'll takin this a little too personal. KKK originated with country ass white people in southern united states. The U.K. had zero to do with that. Considering the fact that they been tryna wipe that ? from our history books, imagine how little they know about it over there. Besides, krispy kreme's hot n ready donuts are way better than that cold ass state ass dunkin donuts.

And to me the bolded should be the focus of this particular thread. How in the ? is Dunkin Donuts able to exist in the same world as Krispy Kreme? Not only exist, but it thrives. New ones are opening all the time while you barely see Krispy Kremes. This is one of the things that helped me realize at a young age that the world ain't always fair. -

Sutten similar happen over here on Top Gear. They were in Argentina in a car with the license plate H982 FKL, an obvious reference to the 1982 Falklands War. They try say that all the producers, cast, higher ups. None of them noticed and it was unintentional. The odds of them bein' in Argentina and just happened to have that plate smh these crackas get a kick outta the subliminals fam. Then on Hot 97, "did I say his name dawg?"

Ok???
