Robert De Niro Swears He'll Reunite With Scorsese, Pesci And Pacino For The Irishman
BY SEAN O'CONNELL
You can have The Wolf of Wall Street. I’ll take The King of Comedy. My favorite Scorsese movies have Robert De Niro in them, not Leonardo DiCaprio. So when the Raging Bull star revealed that they are still entertaining the notion of doingThe Irishman, you can see why I’m swallowing that news like it’s a plate of spaghetti and meatballs.
It has been a long time since either Casino or Heat. Has too much time passed? De Niro doesn’t think so, and he told The New York Post that the project is still very much in the works. De Niro stated:
"We have been trying to do [the film] for the last few years, and I think we will do it. It’s based on [the] book ‘I Heard You Paint Houses’ by Charles Brandt. It’s about a guy who . . . confessed that he killed Hoffa and Joe Gallo. I’m gonna play that character. That’s something I’m looking forward to very much . . . I think it will [happen] . . . we’re really working towards making it happen."
Long before Scorsese found a bright and shiny new "toy" in DiCaprio, the Oscar-winning director crafted a series of brilliant (and violent) collaborations with De Niro. Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, The King of Comedy… the duo was on fire for decades. In the process, they redefined the crime genre with Goodfellas and Casino, and audiences have been begging for them to reunite and try to put a new stamp on familiar material. Now it sounds like they are getting closer.
Scorsese and De Niro have been circling The Irishman for years, seeing it as an opportunity to "get the band back together," so to speak. The film would tell the story of mobster Frank "The Irishman" Sheeran, and would be based on a bookby author Charles Brandt. Even better, as earlier reports stated, there would be parts in the film for fellow Goodfella Joe Pesci as well as Al Pacino. Be still my beating, Italian heart! Excuse me while I go home and get my ? shine box. These amazing clips should keep you busy.

Just watched casino yesterday.

Well I'll be damned .. .
Just 2 days ago I was imagining a final reunion between Scorsese and DeNiro ... . and it looks like my dreams gonna come true. I've seen all their movies together and Taxi Driver is my favourite movie of all time, like seriously
I think we deserve one last swansong from both of 'em.
Scorsese and DiCaprio like the author in the OP said leaves a little to be desired (My fave collabo outta the five films they've done together is TWOWS)
Pacino and Pesci in the mix too; cinematic gold

Looking forward to this, no need to hate on Dicaprio though

Yeah I don't get the Dicaprio hate either. I used to think he was overrated myself but he's really shown he has a lot of range. Can't wait to see this if it true. It would be the last call for these legends.

Lol @ keep WOWS and give me King of comedy, king of comedy was borderline ass imo. Every movie Dicaprio has done with scorsese has been a classic to near classic.
With that being said, De niro's finishing off a career that's gonna be damn near impossible to top. He might not be the lead character , but he's taking smaller roles in great movies "american hustle" "limitless" etc.
Dicaprio is currently the best in the game imo Not only is he a great actor but he's the one doing the research and bringing these stories to the table to become films "aviator" "WOWS" were both his ideas. -
Nah
Shutter Island was "classic or near classic"?
Cape Fear, Taxi Driver, Mean Streets, Raging Bull, Goodfellas ..
DeNiro's performances in these five films alone >>> anything DiCaprio has done with Scorsese
And FYI DeNiro won an Best Actor Oscar for Raging Bull... -
DiCaprio can't even "be the best in the game" with his monotonous acting
When we got Daniel Day-Lewis still eating.. LOL
Ryan Gosling
Michael Fassbender
Guy Pearce
Christian Bale
Matthew McConaughey
Javier Bardem
Casey Affleck ..
Just off top are way better character actors than DiCaprio IMO

I said Dicaprio is the best in the game, not alltime. Never said he was better than deniro. You have to take into account that cats like Pacino and Deniro were just gettin hot at the age Dicaprio is now and Dicaprio already has a great resume. He's just getting started.
Lol @ monotonous acting. Im guessing youve never seen Django or Aviator.

Dicaprio >>> the mfs u listed , eventhough I do agree most of them are good actors. -
Shutter island was trash but leo prob is one of the best in our gen. Cant wait for this flick tho. I hope pesci got that spark still
-
Leo is the best of his generation. Cats hate on him because he still look very youthful. But he brings it everytime!!!

relatively speaking he IS "youthful".
dude is not even 40 yet
with that in mind,
I agree, you have to give props to his resume of classic and near classic films -
I've always thought Dicaprio and Depp could out act anyone in Hollywood
-
I've seen nearly his whole discog and I still stand by my statements
I'll give him props for picking out good roles and wanting to work with the best directors in Hollywood. But that's as far as it goes
It's the acting, not his body of work that I'm critical of -

Depp is that dude who can immerse himself into any character or speak in diverse accents. .. can do comedy, thrillers, sci-fi, drama etc
That's what I'm talking about -
