    Melle Mel - The first GOAT. The first MC to take it from the parks in the Bronx to wax to Hollywood to the Grammys.

    Notorious BIG - took Gangsta rap from a lot of cursing and swearing (NWA) to writing coherent songs with concepts and storytelling. Yeah, Ice Cube could write but Big was better IMO.

    Nas & Rakim. Rakim was the ultimate mc in his prime. Just amazing. Then Nas took it to another level.

    This thread is not based on, who created Hip Hop, who perfected what and when.
    The idea behind this thread is more like, who had a big impact on YOUR "Hip Hop lifetime."

    That's not the title of the thread nor is it what you typed in the O/P

    The title of the thread is "most influential MC"

    Then you said;

    Based on what?

    Based on your own opinion

    Pac /Nas

    Reason being they were the most relatable and they had a wide range of content. No matter what Im going through it seems like Pac has a song for it (beef with ur friends, beef with ur girl, friend getting killed, going to jail, coming home from jail, lol,) he has a song for everything and I think Nas took the torch and you can probably say the same about him. The difference is , Pac did it within a handful of years and all in his early 20s , but dropped jewels as if he was 56.

    Nas and Biggie

    Because they were ill lyrically, they were both creative and both made genre defining game changing albums. Both were/are great storytellers.

    Ice cube was the first artist I heard that peeked my interest and introduced me to true Hip Hop. I was about 10, so I was maturing and starting to understand the world before that I was hearing Cant touch this and Ice Ice baby everywhere. Cube set the tone to what style of Hip Hop I would go on to like.

    Now Pac just embodied the black community and spoke on some much ? I was actually living.
