I read to him two or three times a day work on colors.

I hadn't started working on alphabet yet though.

I know reading to him helps build his vocabulary.

Crude...in all seriousness brah...how you go straight to the stories without teaching the alphabet that teaches him how to pronounce the letters that form the words in the book

dont get me wrong, reading to your child is VERY important, but you gotta start teaching him the letters brah. At the very least, the ABC song brah.

We sing the alphabet song but I hadn't put as big an emphasis on learning the alphabet per say yet as I have reading stories and showing and helping him identify colors.

Most kids won't know how to identify letter until 3-4 years I'm trying to build his vocabulary and phonics right now.

he may not be able to actually recognize the letters, but he'll know how they sound at the least

but to combat that, get some alphabet flash cars brah. Just go through a few letters a day and keep repeating the sound. Maybe 5 letters a day and give him a chance to sound out the letter

Keep reading to him and show him the pictures, point and repeat simple words.

So, "Joe is kicking the ball", read, then point, "ball" "red ball" etc..

Alphabet is great to teach at any age.

Colors, any age but keep it to 2-3 colors a week. Alternate. So, "blue, red and yellow" one week, another "white, brown, green", then go back to blue red and yellow, etc..

Keep up the colors when you're out an about. Point em out for him.

Sign language is super beneficial, if you can find a book or dvd on that, or YouTube, it will help speed up the process of his learning.

? training, you'll pretty much know when they're ready. Just introduce them to it. Show them the ? . Have them sit on it. Be crazy encouraging. Don't reward them, though. (cookies or whatever) give them the wrong idea on how it works.. He will eventually just go. Sometimes it's easy, sometimes it's a process.

Do a body part game too.. I dunno if you do that, but point out your nose, eyes, head, hair, arms etc and repeat. Point on yourself and him. Have him point to your nose, eyes etc.. (actions help too, sniff with your nose, blink your eyes, motion your mouth, wiggle your fingers/hands)

    Whatever works for you, man.

Don't always use tv/phones to help. Use one on one time more often than not.

Sounds preachy as ? so I'm gonna stop..
