You can't be so naive to think that the national debate here would not be about guns rights. Yeah you got a lot of race, some religious elements- but from a policy standpoint the only real angle here is with the guns

We have to consider that the United States have allowed the deification of slave owners as opposed to a country like Germany which has stamped out ? from having any sort of official, government sanctioned statue, flag or anything else continue to stand.
This country still allows the flag of slave owners to fly high and in some cases even higher than the so-called flag that represents us all as free peoole. They have allowed monuments to be built for people who bought and sold other people.
The very state this incident took place in still flies the confederate flag. The governor is on television crying but she wont use her power to remove the symbol of racism and opporession that a section of her society holds dear to them.
Allowing symbols like monuments and flags to continue to stand gives those who hate, threaten and attack other individuals verification that higher powers indentify with their mindset and that their ideology was once commonplace and widespread enough that it was held by important individuals and institutions.
You cannot change human behavior but you can change the environment and the united states has allowed, for far too long, an environment of racism to persist disguised as "freedom" or "liberty". There should be a scorched earth policy on symbols of racism and division in this country. It wont eliminate racism but it will show that our society is hostile and intolerant to hatred and threats based on race.
We need to fight for a law equivalent to that in Germany where we demand the destruction of any symbolism attached to the hatred of American citizens, specifically black people. If these officials are really upset and appalled at this behavior then its the logical step to make, if for no other reason than to show these white supremacists that the sun has set on their ideas. -
