Last Friday, Migos released their debut album, YRN. Also on that same day, buzzing white rapper Lil Dicky put out Professional Rapper. The first week sales projections are in, and it looks like Dicky will be almost doubling Migos in sales.
Lil Dicky’s album is projected to do 21-24K, whereas Migos are currently at 12-14K. The numbers are interesting considering Migos are more accepted in hip-hop than Dicky has been.

White privilege

Migos doin' Troy Ave numbers? Im seriously having a hard time wrapping my head around this.
Do ? need to start reevaluating this whole club / radio hits = record sales mentality? Did Future just make it hard to eat for the other trap ? ? Even if that's the case, I would have expected DS2 to outsell Meek's drop considering the catchy tunes he has in comparison, but Meek outsold the ? by over 100 thousand units first week. I honestly don't get it. These ? who are dominating radio aren't necessarily selling records. -
Trash ain't hot in the streets
They don't even have a buzz -
they hot in the streets/clubs but outside of versace never been hot on the charts
-
This is what happens when you don't drop ? when you have momentum.
Should've dropped around the time versace came out. -

If a white guy who raps as a joke can sell double of what an established group can sell, then yes -

Like those rae sermmurd dudes -
Who the hell is Lil Dicky?

Wow..
That's Troy Ave Numbers, Migos more popular than Troy Ave.
Joey Badass first album "B4.Da.$$" sold almost 55,000 first week without a chart topping single..
@sr_the_freshman you may be on to something.. -
Make mixtapes and eat off the tour money. Why ? gotta make ? difficult?
-
If the other member wouldve been out of jail group would have done descent numbers. 12k is out the back of the trunk at the flea market numbers.

a lot of us live in a bubble. if you're in the hood all the time, hang out with hip hop heads, frequent hip hop clubs and post on the ic all day, it's easy to lose track of what is actually doing numbers on the charts, and what's just popping in the streets. migos is not actually that famous outside of hip hop. most white people would have a hard time trying to name 4 of their songs, or any one of their projects. to them, migos = background music at the club... hell i know people that heard versace and thought "who the heck are these people messing up drake's song?"
doesn't matter how many ? slap something in the wip, or at whatever spots you happen to frequent. if mainstream america isn't listening to an album, it's not gonna sell, period. i've never heard a one direction song in my life, and neither have 90% of the people i hang out with, but they're going platinum plus in like, 5 different countries every time they drop. that's why i laugh anytime somebody says "nobody listen to (insert artist) in the hood" as if their hood = the music industry as a whole. -
They waited too long to drop the album and I don't understand these artist dropping they albums on Friday now. The album was disappointing either way. The label had them singing about love with Chris Brown on it, sounded force. Back to selling dope on mixtapes fellas, ya'll was eating off that.

The trap music audience don't go on iTunes or go to bestbuy to buy albums ... only way you can sell records with that sound is if you got some kinda angle that pulls in the hoodrats
But I doubt they were expecting to do any real numbers anyway...it was all indie...they'll be able to eat off tours because of this for a lil while now tho -

People that listen to Migos and Future like that don't buy albums. I'm not a fan of Future, but I listen to DS2 pretty regularly. But it's not something I would rush to spend money on. And although the album is eh, I do like Migos. I ain't buying that album though. RNT and NL2 are enough to suffice me.
So yeah, despite the machine pushing ? down our throats, ? still ain't gonna spend money on it. Microwave/fast food rap is what it is and has it's place. It just doesn't have a place doing numbers on the charts. And even though Meek has a cool album, he's actually kind of an outlier here. His BET performance and relationship with Nicki came at opportune moments.
Meanwhile, Kendrick and Cole are making music that matters, topping the charts, making appearances all over the place and selling out MSG... These new ? should really be paying attention.

I haven't heard the album but I knew it wasn't going to sound like Rich ? Timeline because they had cheesy chorus singing Chris Brown on it. I missed the days, where an artist will put a no name random singer singing a hook to a song. Now, it seem like Chris Brown is the go to dude. Migos my niccas but naw, I can't rock with this shxt -
who the hell is lil dicky?
-
White privilege because a guy who raps primarily to middle class suburban white kids and experiences that resonate with them in a 70 percent white country sells more then some ? from Atlanta who most of America has never heard of talking about trapping. Got it. Some smart people on here but yall prejudices are affecting your ear for rap.

Migos got the streetz turnt & outchea doin Troy Median #'s?
These fans wishy washy  -

a white rapper sold 24K which most mediocre white rappers sell nowadays. ? sell over 24K first week every week B. all these so called migos fans didn't support him at all plain and simple.
it's funny cause ? will clown a rapper they don't like (even in the south like big krit because hes too "Boring") but now ? who like these ATL rappers making excuses like they didn't release at the right time or the sorry excuse that some whiteboy has white privilege because he went triple wood and migos only double wood.

Clown even Jamaica came in here and basically said they didn't release at the right time. As hot as they been they should have dropped an album a year ago.
Then again it was you that made the thread. -
"But most of y'all sharing bars like you got the bottom bunk of two man cell"
Too many people sounding the same. Future, Migos, Fetty Wap, Dej Loaf, Rich Home, etc.
