LAUDERDALE LAKES, Fla. (AP) -- A 60-year-old Georgia man has been captured in South Florida after more than three decades on the run.
Officials say Willie Lee Austin is in the Broward County Jail on an out-of-state hold Friday morning after he was captured Wednesday in suburban Fort Lauderdale.
The U.S. Marshals Service said in a news release that Austin was serving a 15-year sentence for armed robbery after being convicted in Muscogee County, Georgia. He escaped Dec. 27, 1981.
Officials say Georgia Department of Corrections investigators assigned to the Marshals Service's fugitive task force recently looked into the case and found a possible alias identity for Austin. They found an address in Lauderdale Lakes, Florida, and say they took Austin into custody without incident Wednesday.

welp he lived out his life and now he can serve out the rest of his sentence as a senior citizen good for him.

if he hasn't committed any other crimes they need to go ahead and let dude cook; he's obviously been rehabilitated.

30 years? They should've let him stay free if he was chilling and playing his part in society. But of course, the law hates to look like chumps, so they're going to put him through some ? just because. I wonder how much of his time he initially served before escaping?
