Lionsgate and Millennium Films have revealed the first poster for Leatherface, the next installment in the Texas Chainsaw Massacre legacy. Check out the Leatherface poster in the gallery below!
A prequel to The Texas Chainsaw Massacre which will explore the origins of the horror icon in the 1970s, the story will begin with the Leatherface character in his teenage years. He resides in a mental institution until he joins a pack of fellow patients who all break out and go on the run from the authorities. The film will mark the eighth overall entry in the franchise, which currently includes, in addition to Tobe Hooper’s original, three sequels, a remake, a prequel to the remake and a modern-day “direct sequel.”
Directed by acclaimed French filmmaking duo Julian Maury and Alexandre Bustillo (Inside, Livid) from a script penned by Seth M. Sherwood, the film stars Stephen Dorff (Blade), Vanessa Grasse (Roboshark), Sam Strike (“EastEnders”) and Lili Taylor (The Conjuring).
Leatherface is expected for release in the U.S. sometime in 2016.

Then ? it up with the 2nd halloween -
All these reboots and remakes just reaffirm how good the original film was. An origins story of Leatherface was the last thing anybody needed. Is it too much effort for studios to produce original films with original characters, or is having original thought and ideas played out, overrated and too expensive?

I never seen any of them... Texas chainsaw wack to me...
And why can't they just think of a new killer instead of a reboot? -

If you've never seen any how do you know it's wack ? -
I thought we already had an origin story?
So now they are gonna make his family not his family?
The last one sucked ass. -
I saw the last one in theaters I was like wtf, they turning this ? in to the victim. Gtfoh!
Then I never forget when oh girl was like "Do ya thing cuz!" I just rolled my eyes. -
Yeah that last reboot won't ? ....can't wait to see this one

That's how you know you're running out of ideas because yeah they released The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning in 2006 which was obviously an origin story. But in that one the Hewitt family ain't technically his family either; one of the Hewitts finds him in a dumpster when he was a baby and brings him home. I love horror films but most of these franchises timeline is so damn convoluted with all these damn reboots/remakes/reimaginings /origin stories. Like wasn't the last one Texas Chainsaw (didn't watch it, especially when I saw Trey Songz of all people was a main character lol) a direct sequel to the 1974 version??? So they just ignored 2-4 and the 2003 remake? So this one's gotta be in the same universe as Texas Chainsaw right??? -
Which one was Matthew Mcconaughey in? Was that one good?

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation which was the fourth one and no it's not any good lol. It also has a young Renee Zellweger in it in addition to McConaughey. If I remember right it's that one where they try to turn Leatherface into some kind of ? cross-dresser. -

I enjoy Halloween 2 for its gore factor, but that's what got the film lost, it had nothing good going for it storyline wise.
The firSt one was actually a pretty good origin story, I enjoyed that one a lot.
But he lost the flame, he said he didn't want to put forth much effort, or continue with the third, because he doesn't want to be known for only horror movies. Which is stupid. It's his forte, obviously. -

? , Norman Bates.
Silence of the Lambs, Buffalo Bill.
Texas Chainsaw, Leatherface
All inspired by Ed Gein.
Also, Bloodyface from American Horror Story.
