How is his name insulting to black people? He's actually paying homage to the Egyptian ? Thoth who the greeks call Hermes Trismegistus. Alchemy (Greeks definition) is mixing base metals and trying to turn them into gold. Alchemist the producer uses that as a metaphor of how he mixes records and turn them to gold (banging hip hop tracks).

It should be Techu. Thoth supposedly brought about the word thought due to what he represented and the spelling of his name in this particular instance. Techu had a myriad of ? represented factors and wisdom happens to be one of them. -

Alchemist is a dope producer but I never liked how he played Ras Kass.
He sold a beat to Ras Kass for "Home Sweet Home" which was recorded and put out on mixtapes. It was to be a single off of Ras Kass' forthcoming album "Van Gough" (hmmm... wonder where Kanye got the Pablo Picasso idea from? but I digress...)
Ras Kass' record label decides to push back his album so, in the meantime, Alchemist sells the same beat to Jadakiss for "We Gon' Make It". That is some ? ? ...
