Tha Carter IICarter 3 was a glorified mixtape
It had some VERY nice songs, but there was no theme like the previous two installements. No fly in/walk in...fly out/walk out interludes. The C3 sounds like some songs that probably could've gone on C2 but got scrapped at the last min and the rest of the C3 sounds like fillers. Dont get me wrong, its a very nice album, but it just pales in comparison to the previous two. -
Tha Carter IICarter II only Wayne album I like.
-
Tha Carter IIC1 was REALLY good, it was that album that put ? on wayne heavy and when he really started blossoming into an MC. C3 was when he started his decline, to me. Still a dope album, but the lyrics weren't as crisp, the language wasn't as fly, and it was SUPER commercial.
C2 though??? That ? was phenomenal. That was his peak, prolly (A case could be made for Dedication 2 and/or Drought 3). And as much as I LOVE mania fresh, I don't think it's a coincidence that Wayne went to another level when he started having mad other ? produce his ? .
Then again, he hasn't really made much dope music since C3 to me, so ...yeah. -
Tha Carter IIIf ? think Wayne fell off listen to this and ask yourself if you truthfully believe Wayne fell off or aint had top 5 verse of the year and he aint eem drop an album this year....

This is literally Lil Wayne ft. A$AP Rocky
This is always the verse people point to, in terms of recent standout Wayne verses. I gotta be honest, man. It just don't move me like that. I dunno if he has lost a step, he's just not as clever as he used to be...or I just outgrew him. But It's SOMETHING. I don't enjoy his music on any level anymore.
I dunno, man.

his growth could come from gillie influence, i also attribute it to letting go of some of that bounce music he was on and maturing into a grown mane
also im puttin any ? who say turk out rapped any hot boyz on a consistent basis on shady team status
Wrong
Sqad Up mixtape showed his growth.

Tha Carter IMan that dude was inspired by Jay z on C1 u can easily hear the influence in his raps y'all kills me with this gillie ?
-
Tha Carter IICan't say I cosign a lot of the ? he says and does but Wayne been one of my favorite rappers since the hot boys. He was on top of his ? just spittin around the C2 era.

Tha Carter IISion did tears fall down your cheeks as you typed all that bruh? Lol.

Tha Carter ITwo things I have come to realize ...
Wayne is different, and "real" hip hop fans can't see past that
Wayne is from the NO and he came up under the Hot Boyz. He is not from the Mecca. He ain't from the west coast. He didn't come up around Big Ls, Bigs, Pacs, UGKs etc.
So why would he fit the mold of these type of emcees?
...Rap like them, paint the same stories, have the same flow etc?
He wouldn't
Doesent mean he isn't great.
He is also a very different cat...
Dude is kind of eccentric and strange. The way he'll laugh on a track and record songs that are "way out there" or "not safe" can be off-putting if you looking for the "traditional MC".
He has also done some questionable, and very "un-cool" ? in his personal life... And he loses points for that too
But none of that means his ? isn't dope...
Flow, presence, versality, lyrical gymnastics.
He's one of the best to ever do it, period.
The Carter 3 is much better than most give it credit for
It would literally be a modern classic if it weren't for a few missteps.
C3 has a lot of great songs and a few exceptional ones. But "Phone Home" and "Got Money" are blemishes that are difficult to forgive.
The album seriously lacks cohesion, which is fine for any old album but not for anything labeled a classic.
It is just too commercial for most, myself included. I get he wanted his payday and he got it... But he somewhat sacrificed the quality of that album to get it.

Tha Carter IICarter 3 didn't have that fly in fly out ? cuz that was suppose to be a milli. But that song blew up lol
-
Tha Carter IListened to a Mili yesterday for the first time in years.
Bruh, that track in the whip >>>>
His lyrics and flow were perfect for that song. -

well he should've named the album something else. He had a pretty dope formula with the first two installments. Some of his best bars were spit on the fly in/out interludes.
Im'a just post the entire verse. I couldnt even decide which part to cut and paste. This whole ? is fiyah
So you made it...this far
We upstairs, I let you up here
You special, Marley, don't shoot
You know what this is?
Still Tha Carter 2 people
Yeah, you still in Tha Carter 2 people
All I have in this world is a pistol and a promise
A fist full of dollars, a list full of problems
I'll address them like P.O. boxes
Yeah I'm from New Orleans, the Creole cockpit
We so out of it, zero tolerance
Gangsta gumbo, I'll serve 'em a ? of it
I'm wealthy, still ? with that block ?
Wet your ass up, head to feet til your sock drip
Don't slip, you might fall and bust your ass
No snakes at the Carter, tell the gardener cut the grass
I hear 'em but they talking under masks
Stop throwing pebbles at a bulletproof glass
That's Cash Money, honey pie
We ain't running, we don't hide, screaming ? the other side
Don't get caught on it, this the deadliest grinds
I put your heart on it and walk on it
The chalk's only for the art homie
How they trace ya after I erase ya
Look around, we at war and you still in preparation
I'm riding for them reparations, no patience
Slow paper is better than no paper
Fast money don't last too long, you gotta pace it
You gotta know that paper
If you got it from a caper, gotta blow that paper
Gotta know that, photo phobia, no Kodak moments
Feds' walls with my pictures on 'em
Nah, I ain't even in the school yearbook
I don't do too much posing, got a cool killer look
Career crook, get your career took
I'm back like a brassiere hook
? cheer, camouflage gear, the hunter's here
Better play it by ear, you ain't nothing but a deer
Around here and this here is Tha Carter
Serve it while it's hot out the ? to your mama
And Slim tell me ain't nobody hotter
But get your boy some dipping sauce, I want the whole enchilada
I got 'em by the collar, watch me drop 'em
On the head at the bottom
You ain't gotta shoot 'em cause I already shot 'em
And I ain't gotta get 'em cause I already got 'em
Get 'em, get 'em, get 'em -
Tha Carter IAll them ? were dope af.
And the whole Carter II Is flames -
Tha Carter IHad to go with C1. Mannie did his thing on the boards, and Wayne was spittin'. C2 was cool, and had a few bangers, but I wasn't really feeling a lot of the beats on that one. C3's replay value was horrible, and the beats weren't that great.
-
When I heard hustlers musik I became a fan
-
Tha Carter IC1 easily ! , cause Manny was still on the boards.

Yeah.
But it also had "Got Money" and "Phone Home" ...
As an album, I personally can't see how y'all even consider C3 over C1 or C2.
Just me though
