You guys hear the rumor that dude on the left is playing Zatara (prominent DC magician and father of Zatanna). That actually makes a lot of sense especially with the rumor of Zatanna being more ethnic than even Italian in the DC movies.

Megan Gale's Wonder Woman From George Miller's Unmade Justice League Movie

    wonderwomanmegangale-160146.png

Thanks to Australian photographer Mark Rogers, we finally know what Megan Gale's Wonder Woman would have looked like in George Miller's defunct Justice League: Mortal movie.

In 2007, Warner Bros. was one-year removed from Bryan Singer's yawn-fest Superman Returns and had Christopher Nolan working on his masterpiece, The Dark Knight. At that same time, WB made a bold decision to make a Justice League film that would not feature Brandon Routh nor Christian Bale as Superman and Batman, respectively. They hired Mad Max: Fury Road director George Miller to helm it and cast Armie Hammer as Batman, Adam Brody as The Flash, D.J. Cotrona as Superman, Megan Gale as Wonder Woman, Santiago Cabrera as Aquaman, Hugh Keays-Byrne as Martian Manhunter, Teresa Palmer as Talia Al Ghul, Jay Baruchel as Maxwell Lord, Common as John Stewart/Green Lantern, Anton Yelchin as Wally West, Zoe Kazan as Iris West and Stephen Tobolowsky as Alfred Pennyworth. In 2008, the film was on the verge of being filmed when WB had a change of heart and cancelled the project entirely.

Since then, a few pieces of concept art have surfaced here and there, but for the most part the look of the Justice League: Mortal superheros and villains are still a mystery. You can check out storyboards here.

However, the script leaked two years ago so at least we know it borrowed elements from JLA: Tower of Babel, Superman: Sacrifice, and Crisis on Infinite Earths #8. The gist? Batman compiled information on the weaknesses that his super-pals have for just in case they turn bad and need to be stopped. Maxwell Lord infiltrates the Batcave, steals the information and uses it against the Justice League.

Check out photos of Gale's Wonder Woman below.

Wonder Woman is being directed by Patty Jenkins (Monster) based on a screenplay by Jason Fuchs (Pan). Gal Gadot will star as Wonder Woman and Chris Pine (Star Trek Into Darkness) will costar as Steve Trevor. Wonder Woman is expected to begin filming later this month and will land in theaters on June 23, 2017.

and that they're looking to diversify Zatanna with a black or hispanic actress.

I really wish these muthafuckas would stop doing this "diversity for diversity," sake. Am I suddenly suppose to go and run off and see Justice League Dark because Zatana is a black girl, a Mexican, or some indigenous looking person from Peru? If other movies, can be hella white, then why all of a sudden do superhero t.v. and film projects need established characters to have their race changed? The ? is insulting to people who always supported comics and to the causal film goer. Besides isn't the new incarnation of the Spectre a black dude? And as I've always said, if they need diversity, why not just create a new character. Clark Kent, Bruce Wayne, and Diana, Princess of Themyscrica would never have their race changed, so why do Hollywood feel it's cool to change the race of lesser known characters? I guess it could be worse, at least they're not changing the character into a ? .

Who are the New Wonder Woman Movie Castmembers?

    wonder-woman-cast-speculation-160242.jpg

Overnight, several new castmembers were announced for Wonder Woman, with the announcement that principal photography is officially underway. Only two characters have been officially announced so far, though, with Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman and Chris Pine as Captain Steve Trevor.

So who are the rest of the cast, and who might they be playing?

Robin Wright has quite the storied career - she was a working actress two years before Gal Gadot was born! Her early career included the titular role of Princess Buttercup in The Princess Bride, a long run on soap opera Santa Barbara and a couple of TV movies. Forest Gump gave her a big jump in her career, and it's been primarily one of fairly straight drama films. Her only real genre credits to date would be Princess Bride and Beowulf.

Who could Robin Wright be playing? Well, the Hollywood age could be right for her to play Queen Hippolyta, Wonder Woman's mother. She could also be any number of prominent Amazons or one of the Gods of Olympus. If the past component to the film, which is rumored to take place in two eras (and has a set picture to support that) is World War II (conflicting reports have said it's one or the other of the World Wars), then she could be a character like Baroness Paula Von Gunther, a ? spy who fought Wonder Woman a few times in the Golden Age of the comics. There's also rumors of Circe being a villain in the film, so that's always a possibility - this is the problem with speculating when you have next to no details about a movie - almost everything is possible.

Danny Huston, meanwhile, has a lot of genre work under his belt, from American Horror Story to Wrath of the Titans to X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and has even lent his voice to a DC animated movie as General Lane in The Flashpoint Paradox. He could be something as simple as an Army general like General Phil Darnell (or Blankenship, depending on which era or medium you're referencing), who has ties to both Wonder Woman and Steve Trevor, or as imposing as Ares, another rumored villain for the film.

David Thewlis is probably best known to our fans as Remus Lupin in the Harry Potter series. He's also in this year's new Macbeth film as Duncan. He certainly has a godly air to him, but no specific character jumps out at first glance.

Ditto for the lithe Ewen Bremner. As Spud in Trainspotting, he wore a Superman t-shirt, so perhaps this is him fulfilling his DC Comics movie destiny, 20 years later.

Elena Anaya is a Spanish actress with only a couple of English speaking/Hollywood roles, including Van Helsing. If earlier rumors about Circe were true, namely that they were looking at an actress like Eva Green for the role, Anaya would certainly fit that bill with her stunning looks and screen presence.

The last new member of the cast announced was Lucy Davis, a veteran comedy actress from the original The Office, Shaun of the Dead, and much more. The character that jumps out here is Etta Candy, who is typically Wonder Woman's best friend, and has appeared in multiple eras. This is probably the safest bet.

Saïd Taghmaoui was also confirmed in the castlist, after he let that slip with his now-deleted tweet from the set (oops). He told a French publication his character is, "Un personnage de super héros gentil." Now, many have taken that as him saying he's playing a super hero, which the literal translation can support, but it could also be him saying he's just a "nice, heroic character," or simply, a good guy. If he is playing a super hero, well, it's fairly hard to figure out who. Some speculation has fallen on him being Giovanni Zatara, the father of Zatanna and an accomplished magic user himself - if Circe and Ares are indeed the villains, having a mystic in your corner would help. The copious workouts and shape he's gotten into doesn't seem very necessary for a guy who uses spells though. We'll go out on a limb here and suppose he could be Lennox, the British super-soldier revealed as Wonder Woman's half-brother in the most recent New 52 era of the comics. He can turn himself to living marble, a visually interesting power, for sure.

As production begins in earnest, more information will surely both leak out and be revealed officially soon. We should note as well, that Nicole Kidman was reportedly in talks for the film, but did not appear on this cast list.

Actresses Rumored For Black Canary Role In Justice League, Possible Birds Of Prey Movie

    birdsofprey-160417.jpg

Following the release of the first image from the Wonder Woman movie, DC and Warner Brothers are keeping the momentum of female heroes strong.

A new rumor suggests that Black Canary will be making a debut in the DC Extended Universe, and no, its won't be Caity Lotz or Katie Cassidy of the DC TV Universe.

According to the rumor, actresses Abbey Lee of Mad Max: Fury Road and Alona Tal or Burn Notice and Supernatural are being eyed for the role of Black Canary. The debut is said to come in Justice League: Part One or Two.

The rumor also suggests that Black Canary plans are not limited to Justice League ensemble films but also a Birds of Prey movie which is in development. The Birds of Prey is a group comprised of a number of female DC heroes, including Black Canary and Barbra Gordon, who is likely being introduced in Batman v. Superman and portrayed by Jena Malone. We recently asked Malone to share some details on her upcoming DC role, but she couldn't share any.

Possible Plot Synopsis For JUSTICE LEAGUE PART ONE Reveals The Movie's Big Bad

Take this with a very large pinch of salt, but a casting agency has shared a possible plot synopsis for Justice League Part One, and if it's accurate, it reveals who the team of heroes will be squaring off against when they reach the big screen in 2017. Read on for details...

    XEABtvM.jpg

We all know how unreliable casting websites tend to be, and that's why you probably shouldn't pay too much attention to the following plot synopsis from My Entertainment World. Of course, they've been right enough in the past to at least take note of this one, and if this is indeed the approach Warner Bros. are taking to Justice League Part One, it sounds pretty awesome. After all, it's hard to fault the choice of Darkseid as the movie's big bad as he makes more sense than Braniac.

The world's greatest heroes are assembled to form the Justice League, to combat a threat beyond each individual's capabilities. The story involves Darkseid planning the destruction of Earth by blasting it with a ray that’ll move Apokolips into the Earth’s place.

It's worth noting of course that this synopsis appears to be based on Will Beall's scrapped Justice League screenplay, but there's absolutely nothing to say that Zack Snyder and Chris Terrio couldn't have used the same general concept, borrowing the idea of Darkseid attacking Earth (something which has happened in more comics than you can possibly count).

Rumored Villain for Aquaman Film Revealed

    aquaman-villain-rumor-160810.jpg

While the script has only just been started according to screenwriter Charles Roven, rumors are already flying about Aquaman, the 2018 film in the new and growing DC Comics movie universe. JoBlo has a rumor that the early talks about the story have a villain: Ocean Master.

The character is Aquaman's half-brother, and thinks himself the true heir to the throne of Atlantis. While JoBlo frames this as a surprise villain, it's actually fairly obvious if you've looked at the media of the last few years. Ocean Master, or Orm, has been a primary villain for the entire newest run of the Aquaman comic books. He was also featured as the main villain in the animated film, Throne of Atlantis.

Which brings up an interesting point: the current rumored villain and storyline for Aquaman being Orm fighting for control of the throne sounds like that animated film. The rumor of Red Hood being the villain and storyline for Batman (Affleck edition) also reflects an animated film from a couple of years ago. Could the animated DC movies be a proving ground of sorts for characters and storylines?

Warner Bros. Focused On Making PG-13 Superhero Movies

    batman-v-superman-easter-egg-142551.jpg

The upcoming slate of DC Comics film adaptations is aiming for a consistent PG-13 rating across the board.

Producer Chris Roven confirmed this during an interview with Collider:

“Right now the movies that we’re making, the movies that have been announced by Warner Bros., I would say those are all intended to be PG-13 movies. I can’t tell you something may not come out of left field or we might get inspired to develop a different character, but the ones that are in front of us right now through [Justice League 2 are] PG-13.”

This does in Suicide Squad, which is perhaps the darkest and grittiest offering Warner Bros. currently has planned.
