Drake’s smash hit ‘Hotline Bling’ was not among the song titles read yesterday morning when the Grammy nominations were announced.
Many fans assumed that was because the track didn’t get in before the September 30th, 2015 deadline. But, in fact, the single was released in July — it just didn’t become a massive hit until the video dropped in October.
So what’s the problem? According to Hits Daily Double, ‘Hotline Bling’ wasn’t submitted because of a clerical error by Cash Money.
They add that the track would have been a contender in multiple categories, including Record Of The Year.
As it stands, Drake has five 2016 Grammy nominations. But none come in the big three categories of Song of The Year, Album of The Year and Record Of The Year.
For all of his success, Drake only has won one Grammy: Best Rap Album for 2013’s Take Care.
He may have his label’s increasingly notorious ineptitude to thank if he still has only one after February 15th.

I heard @Bcotton5 needed a letter of recommendation for an internship last year and police found that letter in Wayne's bushes last month when they raided his property. Gudda gudda really needs to keep that office organized and on time.

man that cha cha song sounds nothing like hotline bling...had drake just put out hot line bling without calling it a cha cha remix at first i don't think anybody would've drawn the comparison

The first week or so the video for hotline bling was exclusive to apple music and its special music player. Billboard counts vevo/youtube views (aka views from the vevo6) toward its calculation in to hot 100. Well the video blew up on apple music but none of those views counted toward the billboard metric so it just missed #1. From a ranking spot it may have been an L. But from a money standpoint drake gets paid well to make these ? exclusive on apple music given his deal. Billboard doesn't pay you for being #1 its more of a popularity thing.

He just got ammo for when he wants to leave Cash Money, remember that his main label is actually Republic Records not Cash Money. He can leave CM and he might get stiffed for some of his royalties and things but he won't lose out to the same degree Lil Wayne has. That's unfortunate tho, whatever the real reason is, if not for that he prolly would have cleaned up at the grammies. There's always the next year and with Kendrick Lamar and J.Cole out of the way, no Jay-Z, Kanye or NaS in sight and his 5th album on the way he can still crush the competition at the 2016 Grammies.
He needs that Beyonce feature in the video for "Can I" if he wants to go to the next level....
Birdman was adamant about Drake and Nicki Minaj not leaving Cash money ,I like to see how this plays out with Drake leaving.
