There is nothing to gain by abolishing the minimum wage. It's purpose has been argued and accepted into our culture for the greater good, same as with child labor laws. Increases should happen. But $15 for the lowest of unskilled workers?

I hate when the government does ? like that. It's like c'mon bruh you took away my right to intolerable oppression and hard usage, and now not only can I not employ your toddler in my machine shop, I have to pay its mother a "minimum wage"... this is fascism. -

A mandatory government imposed minimum wage is ? . Individuals/organizations should be able to negotiate their own pay. Government should keep out. -
"Jobs would lay people off" - LIES
Employers only hire as many people as they need regardless of the wages. If it only takes 5 people to run a shift they will only hire 5 people. A raise in wage will not force an employer to lay off 3 of those people if it meant cutting quality, or sacrificing production.
"The cost of goods will increase!" - LIES
The cost of goods will increase anyway. As the cost of the products to make the good would increase. The price of corn has alot to do with the price of many products in this country, especially food.
"The cost of living will increase!" - LIES
The cost of living has increased despite stagnated wages for the last 30 YEARS.
"Automation will replace human worker" - LIES
A company will go automated regardless of what wages are granted if the technology is affordable.
"What about 'small businesses'? - WHAT ABOUT THEM?
If you can't afford living wages then you probably shouldn't be in business. Besides the term "small business" has been mangled to include large corporations no one would consider "small."
"Inflation!" - again we have seen inflation despite stagnated wages.
Greed and insecurity are the primary reasons for stagnant wages.
The rich don't way to pay you and wouldn't if they didn't have to. They already try to wiggle out of health insurance.
The middle class don't want "poor people" making anywhere near what they make so their argument is to hold them down. They are the overseer in the wage slave system. Pay these folks just enough to defend your greedy practices in the hopes you will allow them into the rich folks club.
However, we are seeing more and more middle class people fall towards being poor and that will change their opinions eventually.

Zombie is proof that these arguments are based on political ideology not business sense. Thats typical of economics though
that can be said for both sides of the arguments tho
people blindly advocating for a bump in MW always argue from the moral standpoint, but never are actually willing to offer a solution that actually helps
there are better solutions than just making it harder for a small business owner to survive and limiting the already dwindling pool of jobs

Its the principle of why top level execs are buying their third yacht and a full time worker cant afford payments on a 2000 corolla. This is about a greater and fairer share of profits.
And before ANYONE says they don't matter, realize fast food is a BILLION, HELL MIGHT EVEN BE TRILLION, DOLLAR INDUSTRY. Even in spite of the backlash of cheap food mafuckas still eat Mickey D's because Mickey D's and its ilk serves a vital role in our fast paced, work dominated society.

What im saying Is at what point do you stop ? on the rank and file whose blood, sweat, and tears built your empire? If you wanna pull some callous ? and tell them "Oh wait your job is for a uneducated unskilled child and you deserve pennies" then your castle deserves to burn. The real issue is all these trade deals that have killed middle class jobs. They put in deals like NAFTA the past 40 years and it killed us. It's why places like Detroit, Cleveland, and so on are a mess. Those jobs were vitality for many middle class black families. Then they bring in Illegals and low-wage jobs have been taken over. Used to be tons of black teens/20-somethings working fastfood out here for example, and now it's 90% middle-aged Latinos. I don't begrudge them finding work, but it's at the expense of black youth. Black construction industry has been destroyed because they're undercut at rates that only illegals would work at. I work in the tech industry, and they're now bringing in Indians, Asians, etc., to do work. It's because they're cheaper, and again, it screws over American workers.
A good job >>>> min wage. Socialism(what our government is moving us towards) destroys jobs and then wants you to take low-wage ? , or government stipends. We should be demanding better jobs, investment, etc. in our communities...not a $15 min wage McD's job.

If all of the workers who work in the stores were to not come in for a week....we all know how that would turn out.

The CEO, he's the only reason the workers have a job in the first place . The company management leads, the only reason MacDonald is still around after all these decades and has grown so large and can employ so many people is because of corporate management. -

The fundamental reason it has grown at all is because of the work of the employees in the stores..all the management in the world is worthless without product being moved.. CEO isn't serving product.
