Any woman who feels disrespected and/or offended by hip hop is weak-minded. I say this for three reasons.
1. No artist has ever referred to ALL women by pejorative terms (hoe, ? , ? , etc.). Therefore it's safe to assume that those terms are used to refer to females that fit those characteristics. Such terms, if not applicable, shouldn't offend.
2. Hip Hop nor the artists thereof necessarily make music for women. In fact, it's a male-dominated genre that speaks to a male audience from a male perspective. Some argue that that's misogynistic, however, how many songs and genres of music have been dedicated to women? Even hip hop songs have been dedicated to uplift women at times.
3. Women, like male fans of hip hop, choose to consume this brand of alleged "mainstream hip hop" and, therefore, are to blame for it's popularity. Many hip hop artists don't make songs denigrating women of any class, but they don't get supported. Some hip hop artists can make singles that don't mention women at all, and they are ignored by many.
If you disagree, fine. What you should do is write radio and music industry executives and tell them to change the content of the music they play and manufacture. See what their responses are. -
She can sing so..... -
We went from "Footsteps In The Dark" & "Between the Sheets" to nowadays i just heard an August Alsina song where he singin about "slobbin all on my ? "
-
Lmao@ ladies ... August Alsina just released, a very well rounded concept album. And the ladies called it boring.
Not enough club and fun songs they said...
women play a major role, in this. -

They are simply catering to their audience.
There are women out here that like to be told you gon suck this ? or nah. A "pop that ? for a real ? " woman does exist.
From a musical and artistic standpoint its horrible but the artist can't take 100% of the blame. We all know a few women that be like
"He ain't talking to me so I don't give a ? ".
However, the one thing I truly dislike is the lack of respect for women as a whole. If you didn't know any better you would think that a lot of men actually hate women. Who knows some of em might. That bros before hoes ? is ? to me as if loyal women don't exist.
p.s. The Weeknd my ? and he gets a pass because he don't give a ? and says what he wants. Gotta love it! -

Lol my sister loves weeknd and i be like do you actually listen to his lyrics or nah? -
To me it's the industry to allows this to happen as well as culture as a whole. There's still some R&B cats that are more traditional but that's not what's hot right now. To me I can't be mad at hearing an R&B dude say the same ? as a rapper. That line a lot of the time is blurred thanks to mainstream radio. So many times I've seen articles and news shows refer to Chris Brown & Trey Songz as "rappers". For me just like there's alternatives to wack ass rap music, the same for R&B. Until the tides turn and the new fad happens where it's "cool" to not be this or that, it will continue.
But most the time the best way to fix it, is to turn it off. -
I think theres hip hop singers and r&b singers. Most of the popular "r&b" singers are really just rappers with melodies
-
Lol @ disrespect
Would you rather them sing I love you while beating the women in their lives like James brown and David Ruffin
A ? trash ways doesn't change just because he says lady instead of ?
Just sing the damn song and stop trying to be a rapper -

I agree with your whole post (minus the weekend ? ) but the bolded kills me.
If a white man makes a song about " ? black people" or "i hate ? ," i certainly won't sit back like he ain't talking to me. Its foolish to take that stance but you right.
To add something else: its also that sex hae gotten so cartoonish and detached from realism that people think its okay to be outlandish in song. Its not even creative its ? for the sake of vulgarity. -

You talking to the same lame that admittedly doesn't like black women...now he wants to know black women's opinion on r&b music. -
A Chinese emperor used to to slain people he was suspecting to attempt a Coup by listening to their MUSIC.
People buy music, go the concerts and watch these vids. The morning after they cry about the content they SUPPORT.
WE ARE THE ROBERT KELLY GENERATION. WE HAVE SAID ? POETRY AND INUENDO FOR YEARS. WE ARE CRUDE AND LEWD AND NASTY.
The artists are a representation of the majority 's mindset.

Some Chinese philosophy stuff which goal was to point out the IMPORTANCE AND POWER OF MUSIC and POETRY and BOOKS. -
Women often times can become agents to themselves; especially in regard to patriarchy. It's just like you have black people who support racist institutions and concepts. Many have no clue that they are taking part in such, those who are aware call those who take part ? . So women can often times support patriarchy blindly. This is why you see women supporting artist such as the Weeknd etc, but I will say the Weeknd has more white fans, than black female fans.
People generally have no ideal how much the things they consume way on their conscious, Bandura spoke of this greatly in his social learning theory, but if we way the opinion of Hip-Hop heads, such has no affect, when the research says it does. According to many studies Hip-Hop listeners have one of the lowest collective IQ's out of all music genres, so to not assume the culture would turn its eye on sexism is not surprising. Anyway, as research has shown in the black community, black women control the dollar; so it's not like these rappers are selling records anymore. In Hip-Hop Black women are just ? , hoes, or queens (queens only when you submit to patriarchy), other than that women are used as only props. -

Why don't you take my advice and work on your punctuation? It really does need work. I have noticed it for a while. -

Oh my ? you solved the sales decline problem. Cuz lord knows Big Momma is what's driving these sales to a halt... SMH.
Ya whole post just screams "I put too much thought into this".

I'm not really feeling the August Alsina's of the music industry. Just not my cup of tea.
