We did take Memphis Buck/Crunk music and quasi morphed it into the A's version. It has subtle similarities, but Atlanta ddidn't jus str8 jack M-Town's production and song structures. That's hip hop/rap tho b/c everything has some elements of something else in it. Pastor Troy and Lil Jon were pretty much the pioneers of it and it doesn't really sound like just like Triple Six or 8 Ball & MJG's "Armed Robbery" (as an example). It's all jus music that gets u amped/hyped @ the end of the day.

Imo, no artist in Memphis were just strictly "Crunk" artists . Alot of em mixed Horrorcore with Gangsta Rap & then some added Buck\Gangsta Walk music . Sure some came out with some local Gangsta Walkin/Buckin & Jookin hits, but to me thats not Crunk . Thats a whole different movement centered around their own dances & gettin hyped .
Crunk never really had a dance for the sound like Memphis did, it was just gettin wild & going crazy . Plus the sounds were different . Triple 6 had "crunk" songs but weren't crunk artists...they just made whatever they felt like . I can't Credit Three 6 for creating a sound where people chanted the Hooks . Djs made songs all the time shouting out hoods & commands doing the same thing so they weren't the first . Lil Jon & the Eastside boys created a whole new Synth based sound . Pastor troy three 6, & some others helped also . -

Afrika bambaata prolly the biggest influence on Bass music and whoever produced Just Ice's first albums influenced DJ Spanish Fly who was prolly the earliest on that Crunk ? in Memphis, while we at it, Show Boyz drag rap prolly biggest influence on New Orleans Bounce, Rodney o and Joe Cooley everlasting bass too (Cali ? ) had a lot of influence on the rap from the southeast
But to say those styles came from NY naw, influenced yeah, and we are all Africans

I was gonna say something very similar to that, but I was too lazy to type it up. lol -
Man, I wish I was of age during the late 90's in ATL. A lot of my kin live in NC, so when driving up there we'd go through the A. My whole fam would be jammin listening to the radio stations when we passed through the A. My cousins done told me so many stories bout freak nik. I just know I woulda been up on some girls ass with a cup in hand...that henny.

I didn't realize how influential Bass music was in Brazil.
Then one of their old head DJs told me how Miami Bass music influenced them in the late 80s/90s. They called it Brazilian Funk Music and its still big there today. -
Shawty freak a lil somethin..... Loved da song
