There is no such thing as an "American Indian" unless you're talking about Indians that have come here and gained citizenship.
I have worked with a lot of Indians. I'm somewhat close to a few.
The most memorable moments of hilarity in my days on the job were watching white people explain Thanksgiving to real Indians and the absolute perplexed faces they make while listening. Then they look over at me like "you buying this ? ?".
To add in...the hilarity of some indians pulling my black ass to the side like "my friend, why do some Americans call them Indians?"
fixed that for you.
I know he's not my brother but that was a direct quote so noted as such
naw, most Indians always start convos with me like "... My friend." -

Dont be so PC
"Native Americans" call themselves Indian "NDN" all the time.
Thats like when black people say "dont call me black, im African American"
I AM Native American.
I've posted my tribal paperwork here in the past because it came into question. Yes, I'm mixed, but I'm a card carrying member of my tribe with a federal roll number.
And we definitely don't call ourselves "Indian".
Im a member of MHA Nation
Hidatsa tribe
Prairie Chicken clan
If you are Native u should know something about AIM (American Indian Movement)
Our "black panthers"
I'm Quechan, formerly known as the Yuma.
Yes, I'm aware of AIM and the whole Red Power movement, but I learned about it later in life. I was raised by a fairly militant stepfather so my whole upbringing was all about Black Power and the only thing I knew of my Native side was it being brought up once in a blue moon during visits with my father. All good though, both struggles coincide with one another as does Brown and Yellow Pride and, in truth, we should be exposed to all struggles of minority peoples in this country.
Every group should champion there own issues -

Yo I thought people from India were considered Hindus and not Indians... As far as am concerned at least Latin American people consider the Mayans, the Incas, the Aztecs, the Seminoles and so forth and so on Indians
I could be wrong though idk -

Not necessarily countless people don't grow hair in certain parts of their body..... Beards are one thing we tend to not grow... Might just be my family but I can't grow a beard or a mustache for hell if you ever see pictures of native Americans from back in the early centuries many of them didn't have hair on their faces
Lumbee are true but they just don't have federal recognition. Can't remember why, but I know they have recognition on the state level.
We're not federally recognized because our government is corrupt we just want money for casinos and the Cherokees coupled with a few Tuscarora people discrediting our blood surely doesn't help we had a bill proposed to Obama a year or two ago that was supposed to look into but nothing ever arises from it

African people are naturally not hairy...
Hairiness is an attribute of the remnants of primate DNA still found in people with caucasian blood iirc
I remember growing up I would watch standup specials from different comedians and 1 running joke among most of them was how black people loved to claim Native American
I didn't realize how real that was -
Sounds like a ? ? trait to me

Most claim with little to none DNA evidence to back their claims -

Yea originally.
But its meaning changed.
If u really wanted to keep it funky then every tribe would like to be called by their tribes name but there is over 500 different tribes in the usa.
My only point in here was one person who claimed native affiliation tried to say that no natives refer to themselves as indians and he was wrong
...that same poster proceeded to post what he called "1 of his favorite videos" and the video featured a founding member of the AMERICAN INDIAN MOVEMENT
Just stating one person def dont speak for the whole race -

Exactly. That's why when white people call us monkeys it's laughable. Monkeys are hairy and have thin lips. -
