Actress Rosario Dawson was arrested on Friday during a Democracy Spring protest in Washington, D.C., according to TMZ.

Dawson, a prominent supporter of Bernie Sanders's presidential campaign, was handcuffed after crossing a police line and sitting in protest with about a dozen demonstrators.

TMZ reported that 100 people were arrested during the wide-ranging event, mostly for crowding or obstructing.

The Democracy Spring movement began “mass non-violent sit-ins and legal protests” in Washington earlier this week, according to its website.

“Our collective demand to Congress is that it take immediate action to end the corruption of big money in politics and ensure free & fair elections in which every American has an equal voice,” the website said.

“We urge all who agree with our demand to embrace others from all walks of life in a spirit of inclusion. We will stand together — progressive, conservative, Republican, Democrat, independent, libertarian — as leaders and citizens who want a government accountable to voters rather than big money interests.”

Dawson on late Thursday announced that she supports the Democracy Spring movement and its objectives.

“This is our moment,” she said on the initiative’s Facebook page. "People are waking up and establishment politicians don’t want that to happen.

"The millionaires and billionaires don’t want to see that,” Dawson said. "Enough is enough.”

Capitol Police on Monday arrested more than 400 people linked with the first day of the demonstrations. Democracy Spring has said that more than 3,600 participants will take part in related events ending this weekend.
