If you were no older than 10 years old during hip hop's peak artistic years where the most growth took place i'm not going to respect your opinion on the mecca of hip hop. Atlanta has maybe 10 hip hop artists that help set the culture. I can name 10 from Brooklyn alone.

NYC is the mecca of hip hop, they Eddie Kane Jr status right now, but you can't take what they've done away from them. Has the south essentially owned hip hop for the past 13 years or so? Absolutely. But when you think "I want to go to the mecca of hip hop" No sane person of much intelligence tells you to start with Atlanta.

There has been more hip hop history made in those 5 boroughs than the entire southern region combined.

    It's not up for debate.

Lmao @ Eddie Kane Jr. status.

Nah he's not being proud, he's just telling it like it is. San Francisco. ? out there thrive off the tourist dreams sold by San Francisco. Nas & Young Buck are two celebrities who got caught slipping in The City. The ? district & Full House are very misleading

Makes sense. The bay is a land of haves and have nots. No matter where you are, there is a community of very wealthy, nonconfrontational nerds, and a Lil grimy ? not too far away looking for a comeup. Read somewhere Oakland was the US robbery capital

All throughout the 90's I think it's safe to say that most New Yorkers didn't think about yall. NY was doing it's thing just like houston was doing it's thing. NY just didn't look up to anybody(city) while other cities looked up to NY so that created resentment.

    3rd Coast vs. Atlanta thread?

Don't get to see this too often. I'm from Arkansas, grew up on 3rd Coast music and I live in the A now (I love it).

So I'm going to sit back and watch the show. Much respect to all of the south. Each part of the south is a part of me.

There's no way a ? can convince me N.O. is a better hip hop city than Atlanta. Although N.O. has a nice roster of talent. We can start with the obvious lack of an answer for outkast. Killer mike is better than everybody in NO history also, and T.I. would only have wayne to deal with....NO got manny, and beats by the pound, but ATL got Toomp, Organized Noise, Shawty Redd, Zaytoven, Jazzy.

Yo, and ? Jay Electronica don't count either. He ain't put in no kind of work.
