Notorious Big- despite getting murdered in early '97 his impact was still felt with Life After Death which was arguably the best album of the year and featured Hypnotize, Mo Money Mo Problems, and Sky's The Limit as well as other songs like ? U, Notorious Thugs etc to get in rotation despite not being official singles.
Puff Daddy- he decided that he wanted to drop an album and become an artist. After Big's death he took the ball and ran with it dropping No Way Out which featured Can't Nobody Hold Me Down, All About The Benjamin's, Victory and Been Around The World.
Mase- he was next in line on Bad Boy his debut was highly anticipated that year and he was featured on arguably the two biggest albums of the year in LAD and NWO.
Busta Rhymes- arguably the biggest song of the year with Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Can See was a banger that got consistent play all year.
Missy Elliot- the biggest female artist out at the time she was everywhere that year.

Notorious BigBad Boy...
Went with Big b/c his death then double album sparked that run and he was featured on 3 out 5 singles and a 4th single, the biggest hit, was in his honor off of "No Way Out" he was also on "Young G's" with Jay off that album...
Bias tho... -

mase and big were under puff he got this one you gonna have to change the poll -
Other (specify)Well Damn on the Best Coast in that time Frame what was bumping was equal parts No Limit, Westside Connection, Twista, Makaveli and Bone with splashes of Suave House. Only time any of those listed in the poll were usually heard were by those bumping the Corporate owned radio stations or on Mtv(it still played music videos then). By far that was the year of the No Limit take over...

Tied his ass up and threw him in the truck
Put an apple in his mouth then dug his ass out
About a month later they found his body stashed
In a trash bag with a cucumber in his ass" - WC/ Cross 'Em Out and Put a K

Honestly no one cared. I liked Bow Down and Gangsters Make The World Go Round though. I actually gave that album a listen a few years ago and I thought it was good. -

You put up War report 2, but Wu should also be an option, Wu forever was as big as anything that came out that year, they blew that tour though -
