It has to go to Puffy, he was running the game. I have to give it to him over Biggie for the simple fact that Big died before LAD was even released. 'No Way Out' was an actual classic. Anyone who says otherwise is a hater. Dont forget he also produced a #1 hit for Mariah Carey that year too.

It's crazy to think, but in 1997 Puffy either performed or produced on the #1 song in America 25 outta 28 weeks straight.

But honorable mention goes to Master P. The South already had Scarface/Geto Boys, Outkast, 2 Live Crew, etc, but had never had a real run. Master P and No Limit gave the South their first true run. Before Cash Money, before ATL, before Houston or Miami, it was the No Limit tank crushing ? . They were coming out with a new album with what felt like every damn week and almost everyone of them ? was going Gold or Platinum. It all started with 'Ghetto D'

How gonna have Busta and Missy as an option, but no P? lol

    According to the RIAA, in 1997, Bad Boy sold over 30 million records in the U.S. alone;

    • Can’t Nobody Hold Me Down (single) – Puff Daddy & Ma$e 4X Platinum
    • Hypnotize (single) – Notorious B.I.G. – Platinum
    • I’ll Be Missing You (single) – Puff Daddy & The Family – 3X Platinum
    • Its All About The Benjamins (single) – Puff Daddy & The Family - Platinum
    • Been Around The World (single) – Puff Daddy & The Family– 2X Platinum
    • Life After Death (album) – Notorious B.I.G. 10X Platinum
    • No Way Out (album) – Puff Daddy & The Family – 7X Platinum
    • Harlem World (album) – Ma$e – 4X Platinum
This isnt accurate. They didnt sell 30 million records in 1997 alone. "Cant Nobody Hold Me Down" went 2x Plat, "Been Around the World" went Plat and "It's All About the Benjamins" was never officially released as a single. It DID make it to #2 on the Hot 100 Airplay charts tho.

Harlem World was certified 4x Plat in October 99. 'Life After Death' (A double album) and 'No Way Out' would go on to be certified 10x Plat and 7x Plat in 2000 respectively. But in reality, both albums sold a little over 5 mil. Still an amazing run regardless.

Biggie made Bad Boy not puff, without Big there would not have been a Mase album with that kind of budget, Big made the money puff was just a leach, does he even make music? I have never seen any evidence that he has any kind of musical talents, without Big puff would have still done good in the industry because he is a natural snake and the industry is designed for the snakes, but he was 10x more successful because of Biggie, who else was gonna help diddy blow up like that Craig mac?

Puffy pretty much invented the art of street promotion, and that's before he set Badboy up.

Ghetto D came out in late 97, but Make 'Em Say Uhh didn't hit til 98 which he rode into Tha Last Don and I Got The Hookup soundtrack.

P/No Limit definitely had 98 on lock along with DMX and Jay.

Again your bias is showing No Limit as a record label started off the year with West Coast Badboys 2 which started off with RIP 2pac for most of the country not tuned in to the radio that whole album was on smash than the next Month they Dropped the Tru album and had release after release from that point on. That is just No Limit not even touching the multitude of other releases that year. Just own you ? up fam you hurt your own credibility with this ? ...

Wikipedia isnt a real source. Its not certified on RIAA's website and you can go on Billboard.com and see the Hot 100 list from every week in 1997/98 and the song is nowhere to be found.

Not saying it wasnt huge tho. It was, just not officially released . At least not in the U.S.

I dont even like Master P but he was killing ? after pac & big died.

Dude left off P but included Busta & says this thread dont look bias LOL

Ghetto D came out in late 97, but Make 'Em Say Uhh didn't hit til 98 which he rode into Tha Last Don and I Got The Hookup soundtrack.

P/No Limit definitely had 98 on lock along with DMX and Jay.

Shhh let them keep talking. I know what the ? I'm doing.

"I Miss My Homies" dropped in August of 97 and helped 'Ghetto D' top the Pop charts a month later.

But I'll let you tell it.....

And the people in the poll had a better year than Master P.

'Ghetto D' sold more than what 'Supa Dupa Fly' and 'When Disaster Strikes' sold combined.

But keep spewing your ? .

That's fine but he still didn't have a bigger year than anyone on the poll.

Again your bias is showing No Limit as a record label started off the year with West Coast Badboys 2 which started off with RIP 2pac for most of the country not tuned in to the radio that ? was on smash than the next Month they Dropped the Tru album and had release after release from that point on. That is just No Limit not even touching the multitude of other releases that year. Just own you ? up fam you hurt your own credibility with this ? ...
What in the ? is a west coast bad boys 2? Tru? You think that ? is on par with what Bad Boy was doing that year? Why every time I do these threads when it gets to '97 you cats ? and moan?

Because you act like a little badboy groupie ? when it comes to honesty and look for any spin you can deflecting the facts. Own your ? your whole argument is ? Ghetto D out sold Busta and came out before his album. No Limit Released Album after album all charting decently considering they got no radio play. ? Twista Bone Thugs and Wutang all had better albums than Missy Busta and Mase. Own your ? you are ? up going down this route...

Acting oblivious is being a groupie...

    Corrected...
