All the female supporters I spoke to just seem to gloss over his sexism/racism...like most of his supporters. Cognitive dissonance at its finest.

The fact that you're asking this question leads me to believe that you don't really understand how powerful racism and a racial superiority complex are. In a lot of cases, their need to feel equal to the group at the top of the hierarchy - white men - is 'trumped' by their need to feel superior to the group at the bottom of the hierarchy - racial minorities. There's more to it, but that's that basic ideal, in my opinion.

False. I posed the question(s) because I'm interested in different opinions. I've discussed the racial dynamics with white men and white women before and how it truly pans out in the end(most of the time).

Good first post though, when you have time explain your position more in detail (I'm interested).

despite our misgivings with clinton, explain why 91% of blk women with a college degree and 95% without a college degree decided to vote against racism, xenophobia, misogyny, and all around incompetence

while I do believe gender played a part in her lost, there were bigger factors at play

and quiet as kept, I think obama care and rising health care insurance premiums did not help

and I'm still tryna figure out why 13% of blk men voted for trump, I think double the number of blk men who voted for romney

HOW ARE you doing today sweetheart??? is everything okay??

    lol

a lil concerned that we are now going to have a racist, xenophobic, schizophrenic, sociopathic failed business man turned reality star in the white house

but other than that I'm peachy

    we've been through way worst

Not really much more to explain, to be honest. Historically, politicians have been very good at getting poor and lower middle class and uneducated white people to vote against their best interest by assuring them that no matter what, they will never be at the BOTTOM of the totem pole.

Think about it. Poor white farmers - those who couldn't afford slaves - should have been the very first group to voice their opposition to slavery. They all should have voted to abolish it. Plantation owners with more money could afford slaves, the poor ones couldn't. Free slave labor is what REALLY shot them to the moon economically. Why wouldn't the little guy vote to outlaw slavery so they could get back in the game and compete? Because even though slavery was against their best interest and was the single institution that was preventing them from thriving, slaves gave them a group to look down on and feel superior to.

'We're poor white trash. Our ? farm produces ? crops that barely covers the expenses for our ? lives...but at least we're not THEM!'.

Same mentality at work here. A large % of white women would have loved Clinton in the WH, but even MORE than that, they want/need someone to feel superior too. A guy like Trump in office - with his comment about Muslims, hispanics, his feelings about blacks - give them that. And they don't really care that he also feels that same way about women, has admitted to sexually assaulting them, wants to lock them up for getting abortions, etc.

I honestly had no answer for the thread. I have no idea why a woman would vote for "The Donald" but this is a good reason you provided.

Because there is something in white people's DNA that forces them to vote against their own interests. It's weird.

White supremacy is actually voting in their interest not against it.

Ladies unu have to stop supporting misogynist music
Maybe black men don't appreciate being called superpredators or don't want to vote for the wife of a man who lock so many of us up

it's a problem both men AND women support and consume misogynist content....same one could argue that its problematic that many blk men and women support and consume music that glorifies violence and drug use

that said, @leftcoastkev suggested that the reason why not as many women voted for Hillary as expected is because of her gender ....maybe....but at the same time it doesn't explain why 68% of white women voted for trump, yet blk women overwhelming voted for hil

and if someone truly had an issue or was disturbed with the role HRC and her husband played in perpetuating mass incarceration , I don't believe that person would then willingly vote in favor for trump a man who clearly thinks very little of blk ppl and our rights as citizens... and has a history of discriminating against ppl of color....it would actually be ass backwards

Clinton needed extremely strong support from African-American voters to try to offset Trump’s margin among whites. She did win 88 percent of the black vote to just 8 percent for Trump. However, this was significantly lower than the 93 percent of black voters Mr. Obama won four years ago. The falloff in her share of the black vote was entirely due to black men. Clinton won among black women by a 93 percent to 4 percent margin. Among black men she won by 80 percent to 13 percent.

But Republicans aren't just about white supremacy. They are about keeping the rich rich, and that is certainly not in the best interests of poor and middle class whites.
