But I was told on here that the popular vote means something?

The popular vote of states is what won trump the election...

Be logical here. Hillary won the popular vote nationally right? If the election is determined by the electoral college and NOBODY'S vote matters except for theirs..and people going to cast their votes at the ballot boxes has nothing to do with the election, like you claim, then how come everybody is saying Trump won? The electoral college don't cast their votes until December (which is basically a symbolic ceremony).

Because Trump won the electoral college votes?

regardless of anything, why would a dem want to be pres when everything is controlled by the republicans? they'll have it worse than Obama, if this happens, and not only that, these Trump supporters will take the streets.. if that happens, hell will break loose

True but in this unique case the Republicans dont like trump and didnt want to back him all the way up to his nomination so I assume he wont have free reign to just do as he pleases, but yes hes probably got it better than barack or if it was hillary

But I dont understand the point of bringing up trump supporters taking to the streets hypothetically when hillary supporters are doing so literally??

    Gotta respect the game.

That would set a horrible precedent and probably result in social unrest.

Plus, again, that goes both ways too.

Republicans could do the same thing if things didn't go their way.

    Trump won fair and square.

Said this multiple times before, Hillary and Sanders are mostly to blame for Trump winning.

Sanders for backing down and not contesting the democratic primary and/or running on his own.........and Hillary for not choosing Sanders as her VP running mate to give her the best chance of getting the votes of a majority of his supporters.

Right that's true. US is a representative democracy for that very simple reason. If we went by popular vote then you honestly might as well abolish the electoral process and tell the majority of Americans that simply because they live in a smaller state their problems and concerns don't matter.

....but that's why you have local elections too.

So it's a petition to impeach him early. Nothing wrong with that.

If y'all don't want Trump to be president, all you gotta do is wait a while. He'll resign before the 2.5 year mark.

    Write it down.

You can't change the rules after the fact.

Going forward, you don't even need to ditch electoral college system. You can just give certain states (California, e.g.) more electoral votes to go along with their large populations. That way, it would be hard for someone to win without winning the popular vote.

Actually, the more that I think about it, the more I see that things aren't so simple. What may have to be done is to give all states more electoral votes, proportional to their population, so that the possibilities of population differences between states with same number of electoral votes are reduced.

You could never completely rule out the possibility of someone winning the electoral vote while losing the popular vote unless you raised the number of electoral votes to the number of actual voters. But then the electoral system would be useless. Still, you can reduce the possibility of someone winning the electoral vote while losing the popular vote by increasing the number of electoral votes that all states get based on their populations.

This. I wouldn't be surprised if he did resign or somebody took a "shot," at him. At the end of the day I honestly believed that he truly didn't want the presidency and like a gang of people in America he severely underestimated the power of racism and white supremacy and didn't realize that it was a muthafucka.

Bingo. Trump didn't think he would ever actually be President. The whole ? was for ulterior motives until he crosses the zero barrier one day of '? , I can win?!'.

SMH. The problem is that people keep thinking that Trump was just playing around for some type of weird giggles. Like he wasn't serious. He was dead serious folks. Dead serious. His true motives have not manifested but eventually they will surface. Might be good for the country, might not be, who knows? But one thing is certain he will come out on top. Hillary didn't take him seriously because she was wrapped up in the "it's my turn" fantasy. It is a naive approach to think that he was just playing around and never gave a thought that he would win. Men like that always play to win.
