It is platinum, it sold 969,000. Platinum certification is albums shipped not albums sold. I'm sure they shipped a million

RIAA have not certified Doctor Advocate as plat yet..... You gotta sale a mill not ship a mill to go plat game hasn't sold a mill yet with that album so it still isn't certified plat yet

    Nosign.

Platinum is how many copies got soundscanned. That means how many css got scanned at the register, not how many copies got shipped.

there's a difference between neison sound scan and the riaa. You can get certified for albums shipped with the riaa, who are actually the ones that give out those plaques. I remember when Lil Wayne sold like 969,000 or something for carter 4 in the first week but he still got the platinum certified in that first week also. Then when he went double platinum it was reported as that's how much he shipped. I remember this being a big debate on the forums back then when people didn't understand why he got platinum certified when he didn't sell a million yet.

He died which usually helps sales of a particular artist...

this is true however without him & Big dying Jay would have had to wait longer than 20 years cuz that void/lane would not have been open

this list counts post death albums also....born again and duets

Biggie duets album is a compilation remix album not a solo album that ? don't count

Doctors advocate sold over a million copies it hasn't been certified platinum because your label has to apply for certification and Doctors advocate didn;t cross the million mark until after he had switched labels.

The problem with the way RIAA counts sales is that if a highly anticipated album ships million units they certify it platinum. Thats what happened with Puff Daddy's second album Forever. It shipped platinum but it was a dud compared to No Way Out. It didn't sell and after a few months the retail stores returned those Forever CDs to Bad Boy, unsold. Thats why soundscan is better. Soundscan tracks how many times a CD is scanned at the register, not how many units are shipped.

Pac career solo album releases (pre and post death) 91-06(15yrs): 11 plat albums

Jay career solo album releases 96-2013(17yrs): 12 plat albums

Yea cuz Big L albums be selling like crazy.

L was nowhere close as popular as Pac

Is Big popular enough? There's no rapper selling like Pac other than Em and yall know what that's about. Pac was selling 5 mill within a few months while he was alive. Yall gotta stop acting like Pac only got big or sold cuz of his death.

Don't act like he was selling records that like prior Death Row. A well timed beef with Biggie, signing with Death Row, jail controversy had something to do with them sales. Biggie had a quadruple platinum album prior to the beef. The most Pac could do was going platinum prior to all his controversy.
