I always feel like talib gets outshined if he is a feature or has a feature. Always.

he got bars but zero charisma thats why, he is boring so the feature is automaticaly like some fresh air on the song lol -
Poltergeist with Gucci he smoked him(expected) & I thought he had the best parts on guerilla monsoon rap (very debatable)Lou_Cypher wrote: »I always feel like talib gets outshined if he is a feature or has a feature. Always.

So we all agree Talib is never the best rapper on a track unless its a solo cut
Thats comedy. Thread starter needa change thread title. It will get more hits -

That's my feeling lol. He's a dope rapper no doubt, but outside of blackstar and the first reflection eternal album, he just sounds so emotionless when he raps. Especially when other people are rapping with him.
I always check for his music though, he doesn't make bad music or anything just isn't as enthusiastic with his lyrics as others might be haha. -
Even Jean grae on the hot thing remix had a better flow and verse than talib haha. She aint the most charismatic of artists either.

But Mos Def did wreck throughout his verse especially when the best drop -

Cole and electronica killed this song in a good way. Dope verses from both. Glad they had talib go first and get his ? out of the way lol. -

co sign, he aint no ? legend ,and I respect him lyrically, having lyrical skill aint enough to be considered a legend -

This could be debated for sure. Despite him not being my favorite rapper or anywhere in the top 15, i do think he's made a big enough impact in some shape or form to be consisered a legend.
I really wish blacksmith records took off around when "eardrum" came out. He had some great acts signed with him that would have been dope to see them get some mainstream attention. He had Jean grae and strong arm steady and a couple other people that were dope. -
talib aint no ? legend

Interesting...
Can he be a legend if he is consistently outshined?...

Depends on who you ask. Personally to me he's a great MC. He has some great albums under his belt (Quality is a classic IMO). Tho even on that album he had a lot of greats like Black Thought & Pharoahe Monch turn in great verses. I have no fault in him being called a legend but it's personal taste I suppose.

Now I listen to the song again. I cosign this post. Mos Def did flame that b*tch -
In his defense the list of mcz that outshined is pretty much all legends. And he still holds his own.
Id put kweli in my top 40 -50. -

Was juuuuuuuuuuuust about to highlight those. He killed Poltergeist. He needs more beats like that. Think Talib suffers from what a lot of lyricists/conscious rappers do: he sucks at finding suitable beats. They either pick beats that are grating on the nerves and interfere with your ability to catch their bars or they pick ? that's a great fit for a feature, so they're forgotten after the feature gets busy.
