“I [told Jay Z] ‘Yo, ‘The Bridge Is Over.’ He was like, ‘Yeah, that’s it.’ But when we called down to the studio, [‘Super Ugly’] already went to Hot 97. So, they already started playing it so it was already, you know, too late.”

It's possible. But either way I don't think it would of changed too much. Ether still would of dropped. Using the beat would of be icing on the cake of an already classic diss.

vlad and charlamagne are some ? ass trolls that always got some curious questions about nas that it drives them crazy asking other people about him. i see why nas avoids them.

Jay was never going to win the beef no matter what he came with. Nas was the Golden child, the harmless lyricist everybody loved, Jay had so much power,so much success musically and financially plus his arrogance was out of this world. He was looked at as a bully that was what it was.everybody wanted him to go down that even if nas only farted on that ether beat and screamed ? Jayz he would have won.
How do you lose a beef where you use your rivals vocals and not pay him then smashed his bm while she was his main girl? If Nas did that to Jay We would have buried Jay alive...
Reminds me of the last election.. the people wanted Hillary, not because she's that great just that they don't want Trump the bully.

Huh? What coke you sniffin ? ? Ether disses were brutal. Nothing in Takeover compares to anything in Ether. It's been over 10 years and ? still tryna rewrite history

The only if that could have changed this battle is; if jay dropped a full proper diss towards nas at the beginning, it wouldnt have looked like such a wash.

Takeover wasnt a nas diss, he dissed a handful of rappers in that while proclaiming himself the greatest out of his so called peers.

Blueprint 2 is the only diss out of the battle than can even compare ro Ether, and it still falls short.

I was talking about the battle as a whole not just Takeover... as far as hard hitting disses..
    Super Ugly >>> Ether

Which is why Jay had to "do it right this time" when a year later he released blueprint 2 which also didn't compare. Everyone including Jay and roc a fella knew that ? was trash

Ether ? jay up so bad he was stuttering on radio stations and doing his best Austin Powers impressions and ? . The only way Jay could've won was changing the locks on the studio doors when nas went to record ether. You don't get points for ? someone's ex and bragging about it

    2nd verse
Rap became a version of Malcom and Martin
Rest In Peace Will, Queensbridge live on
There's some ghetto secrets I can't rhyme in this song
There's some missing pieces I had to leave out
Had lost trust for Steve Stoute at some point til I got to know him
We old friends, but what's loyal? Puff soaked Interscope offices
With champagne bottles on Steve, and Steve thought the drama's on me
Cause previously it would have been, against whoever
    Friends forever
However, I learn, with some ? it's all business
But I'm a street dude with morals
Then this ? 's [Steve Stout, once Nas' manager] with Jigga too much, he used to say Jay wanted my spot
I laughed, stayed home, never hung a lot
A quiet man who used to be alone planning
Baby moms thought I was too quiet, couldn't stand it
She hit the streets, later on she hitting the sheets
With a rapper who wanted me on his songs, thinking he strong

I taught her how to watch for cars who might follow
Taught her street ? that I know
    Her weakness was shine yo
But that's her, I ain't mad baby, it made me stronger
Now I get my paper longer
Illmatic I was boss, It Was Written I flossed
One of the most creative LPs ever to hit stores
In the Firm I learned I Am NaStradamus
QB's Finest, Oochie Wally, faced more problems
I gave it all up so I can chill at home with mama
She was getting old and sick so I stayed beside her
We had the best times, she asked would I make more songs
I told her not til I see her health get more strong
In the middle of that, Jay tried to sneak attack
Assassinate my character, degrade my hood
Cause in order for him to be the Don, Nas had to go
    The Gam-B-I-N-O rules I understood
What y'all want, see, I already had
The Gift and The Curse? ? that ? , the first shall be last
    I'm the man's man, a rapper's rapper
    G-O-D S-O-N, they'll be none after
I was Scarface, Jay was Manolo
It hurt me when I had to ? him and his whole squad for dolo

Takeover is the better song. I think any objective person would admit that. It's a top 5 Jay z song imo. But it isn't a great diss record at least when it comes to Nas. The diss hinges on the "1 hot album" line, which admittedly is a great line, it just isn't true, especially for the casual hip hop fan. The "1 hot album" line was aimed at the so called "real" hip hop fans, but they weren't the ones who were going to decide who won the battle, the casual fan was. Most casual hip hop fans had never even heard of Illmatic, so for them the entire narrative around Nas's career really didn't come into play.

Yo did Nas reject Vlad for an interview or something?? Dude seems to have a weird obsession with Nas and he would always bring his name up a lot and then he gets shocked when dudes put Nas as either the greatest or top 3. It just feels very unhealthy from Vlad when Nas's name is brought up.
