Released December 22, 1998.
It entered the charts at number one (and stayed there for 3 consecutive weeks) with 670,000 units shipped in the first week.[7] The album eventually went 3x Platinum in the US.[8] He is the second rapper to have two albums released in the same calendar year debut at number one on Billboard's Top 200, the first being 2Pac with All Eyez on Me (February 1996) and The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory (November 1996).

Slippin' is a top 10 hip-hop song. Perfection. Not a single pointless bar in the song. DMX told the story of himself that just so happened to fit so many people struggling in the hood and you could hear the emotion in the bars. I don't care if you listen to hip-hop or not. If you listen to Slippin' and don't feel what he's saying, you're missing a heart.

"I just love when a ? bring his whole crew just a bigger piece for me to chew a hole through"....one of my favorite hooks -

Slipping and Dear Mama might be word for word two of the strongest hip hop songs..I know there are many more...but them brothers ain't WASTE a bar in each song -
I didn't truly LOVE this album until months after it came out..I kept comparing it to his debut and didn't like it at first...after a few months went by n I started to see it as its own thing I fell in love with it...a Lotta classic tracks on here

DMX is the about one of the only artists that made a song about his grandmother. Since I had mad love for mines before they passed then you gotta RESPECT that

'98 was the year of X, two albums in one year plus he did Belly
my mother got me this album & Tical 2000 for christmas that same year when i was in 9th grade. Never forget hearing the opening track for the first time like "Damn X going hard on this ? " -
the people involved with this project need to do a track by track breakdown on this album like they did for Aquemini, Life After Death, 7 Day Theory, etc
