A barbershop conversation between Steve Stoute, Future, Ebro, James Harden, and Maverick Carter popped up on Instagram recently. The trendsetters debated whether the masses revered Jay Z’s classic debut, Reasonable Doubt, when first released in 1996. According to Future, “Jay Z wasn’t great when Tupac and Biggie were alive.” The discussion inspired the final #DXBreakdown of 2016, where we celebrate Ready To Die and Life After Death, and argue why Biggie Ain’t The GOAT.
Is the Notorious B.I.G. still the greatest ever? Share your thoughts in the Community Section below. Follow the discussion on all socials. #DXBreakdown

Biggie top 5 or 10
-
Based on impact he should be in the conversation.
-
The narrator compared Big to Jayz saying that Jay didn't show vulnerability until Blueprint and that Big didn't get a chance to show any at all. Bigs debut gave pieces of his upbringing and closed with a suicide note that detailed his shortcomings and insecurities. Although there wasn't political or religious commentary on Ready to Die he definitely went deeper than materialism. I'm not sure if he's giving Big enough credit.

Big is the goat!
-
He deserves to be in the conversation but he falls short when it comes to the body of work. Pretty much everybody else in the convo has close to 10 albums and half of which are considered classic, he has two.
-
Randy Newman ? wit Big
Biggie one of the Goats -
-
Biggie is the most effortless rapper i've ever heard, but the body of work isn't there to cement him as goat to me.

Funny how you ? can crown Biggie the GOAT but Lauryn Hill don't even get top 5 consideration.
-
*didn't watch the video*
I get so tired of the girls comparing Biggie's legacy to our current legends. Why can't some of them comprehend the fact that Big's life was cut short? Trying to compare his catalogue to rappers with longevity in the game is redundant now. -

There's no unanimous goat in hip hop.

At this point Big has great great grand kids in this game.. His impact is undeniable.. He And Diddy changed the sound of a genre..
"Supreme baller like.. Lyrics I call em like I see em G.. Yall ? sound like me.. Yall was grimey in the early 90's far behind me.." -
I respect HipHopDx and I respect this stance on Biggie

Absolute fact -
I enjoyed his music, but Big is not the G.O.A.T.
2Pac was 5x better and is the G.O.A.T.
Kendrick Lamar is a better rapper than Big. YEP, I SAID IT! -
