Mexico’s government says it has extradited drug lord Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman to the United States, Guzman is expected to land in New York Thursday evening where he is expected to stand trial in Brooklyn’s Eastern District where he and other cartel leaders were indicted in 2009 on charges of conspiring to import more than 264,000 pounds of ? into the United States between 1990 and 2005.
The alleged traffickers are accused of sharing drug transportation routes and obtaining their drugs from various Colombian drug organizations.
MEXICO SAYS DRUG LORD 'EL CHAPO' GUZMAN EXTRADITED TO US

MEXICO CITY (AP) -- Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman, Mexico's most notorious cartel kingpin who twice made brazen prison escapes and spent years on the run as the country's most wanted man, was extradited to the United States on Thursday to face drug trafficking and other charges.

Mexico's Foreign Relations Department announced Guzman was handed over to U.S. authorities for transportation to the U.S. on Thursday, the last day of President Barack Obama's administration and a day before Donald Trump is to be inaugurated.

Two senior U.S. officials confirmed that Guzman was on his way. One said the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration took custody of Guzman in Ciudad Juarez, across the border from El Paso, Texas, and a plane carrying him departed for New York at 5:31 p.m. Eastern time. The officials agreed to give the information only if not quoted by name because they were not authorized to discuss the matter publicly.
The convicted Sinaloa cartel boss has been held most recently in a prison near the northern border city of Ciudad Juarez. He was recaptured a year ago after making a second brazen jailbreak and had fought extradition since then.
Story is developing…

My question is why the spectacle about him being sent to America. So many like drug lords in mexico like mochomo sent in the middle of the night in secret and not even a picture comes out. Is it to embarrass and humiliate chapo? Or to show the Mexican people that it's really him being extradited finally that don't even look like him, probably some poor old body double who's now gonna rot in prison I always thought mex gov would ? him so he wouldn't make it to the u.s. So he wouldn't talk...

The United States reconfirmed as much in 2016, and also removed the murder charges that were pending against Chapo.

There are indictments against Chapo in six federal districts. The feds say they decided to prosecute Chapo in Brooklyn, with the assistance of Miami federal prosecutors, determining the two offices working in conjunction would bring the strongest case against Chapo. However the cases in other districts will remain opened.

The U.S. is seeking a forfeiture of 14 billion USD against Chapo.

Prosecutors also announced plans to call dozens of witnesses, including agents, rival cartel members, and public officials. These witnesses will testify to the massive scope of Chapo’s drug organization.

No doubt the star witnesses will be the Flores Twins, known as “The twins who betrayed Chapo”. The brothers went undercover for the U.S. which included wiretapping.
They will no doubt see him in court when they testify against him... After all he ordered the murder of their father... Who gets the last laugh?

Exactly. We all know that when you take out a capo, a power vacuum ensues and can even make things worse. And the Mexican drug wars are an entirely complicated mess of a monster.

If it was really America's business and if America really wanted to solve this problem, this problem would've been handled a lot better ages ago. And as bul said, the government's known this for years (but also has contributed to it). This extradition, if it's even real, "aint gonna stop anything."

The solution is almost too simple and obvious: end the war on drugs.

The feds catch who they want to catch. All those people Obama pardoned will be replaced 5x in the next 2 years. So if you gotta any family in the dope game you might wanna advise them to take a long vacation to a country with no extradition.
