As far as the 3 parter, they could've got the same message apart in 2 parts. They didn't need to dwell that much time on when they were kids.
Lastly, there way too many commercials. I see BET is using movie to springboard all their upcoming projects. If I got to see Larry Fish as Mandela one more time and the fake sista Soulja
All in all I would say it's in the middle of the pack as far as biopic is concerned
its like bobby brown read david ruffin's playbook. that gumby ? was funny though. I don't know if that really happened but if its true its funny. that style was popular for 4 years. -
It was good. Casting was on point, especially little Bobby Brown and Ralph. I had no idea about all the sacrifices Ralph made for the group. The recreations were on point, I remember watching that Video Soul interview back in the day and it was awkward for sure.

Yes!! I felt if they had to cut a few scenes out..then they should of made it a 5 part/day series....they didnt even really touch on BBD success...they could of spent a little time with it..but it was good. Wasnt feeling the casting of ricky bell. Also they didnt touch on Maurice Starr enough..and how he really played them..
and VH1 behind the music of New Edition did touch of a lot of this stuff a few years back, but it was still good to see the story being told. -

All of it was new. They went into the studio with Jimmy Jam, Terry Lewis, and Baby Face to record the songs -

Saw an interview where they said this was the 1st routine they learned for the movie. Seeing them side by side you can see they put in work to get it down right. -

Low key the James Brown bio pic changed everything for music bios

Great film, up there with all the classic R&B Biopics, although they probably did a better job of wrapping the film. BET needs to bring this caliber of content on a regular basis. Attention to detail was on point throughout the decades.

They were really gassing Ralphs head up with those MJ comparisons. Dude sounded like a damn chipmunk as a child, the kid in the movie actually has a better voice than Ralph did in real life. Theres a reason why Ralph had the least amount of success out of the group, his voice was low key weak, and he had no presence whatsoever.
