Been boxing and doing MMA for 8 years.
IMO people argue about which style is best, but ultimately it doesn't come down to the style. All the arts Aikido, BJJ Jiu jitsu, tkd, muay thai and silat all them joints have something to offer. No style is complete because it all comes down to the pracitioner, the person through whom a style or discipline is interpreted and expressed.
Philosophically, I've reached a point not only in my general life but in martial arts that style is ultimately illusion. As Bruce Lee says there's only so many ways to throw a punch or kick or any other type of strike. So tkd way, or a karate way or a gung fu way is just a path that goes to the same truth.
That truth being, we got guns now ? ! ? that chop saki, flying woo ta! ? . -

About throwing a punch:I found interesting the way my instructor taught me.By throwing it in a way that the shoulder protects the face and twist the arm so the hand is kind of like side ways.
I don´t co-sign the gun part.I think it´s part of life knowing how to protect yourself.I found myself more balanced knowing I can defend myself.Psychologically and physically. -

Everybody plans on not getting hit. That ? like saying you can survive a car crash by not getting in a car crash.
