Nah, Thurman pulled away with the W

    It wasn't a dominant W, but a W nonetheless

He should have avoided the strategy of moving as much as he did in the later rounds, cause that left a bad taste in the fans mouths, but then again this is boxing and the casual fans don't know ? about movement

Though, Thurman is a beast in his own right, I still feel that he has some noticeable chinks in his armor, that will be exposed by the right fighter

A big flaw is in his body, Thurman dislikes body shots with a passion. If he get in there with a dude that has a chin, and will put relentless pressure to the body, then he will have a big problem

That's why I say Spence takes Thurmans cookies

There's movement and then there's running. Thurman totally disengaged and stop trying to score late in the fight. He's fortunate the judges got it right.

If the judges had gave it to danny or a draw.

Thurman had nobody to blame but himself

Mayweather Sr: If You Look at Khan Too Long - He Will Fall Down!

    By Edward Chaykovsky

Veteran trainer Floyd Mayweather Sr. is siding with Manny Pacquiao to defeat his former sparring partner Amir Khan.

The ex-training mates announced two weeks ago that a deal was reached to fight each other in the coming months. Their teams are now in the process of finalizing a date and location. Initially it was announced for April 23, but they needed more time to properly promote the fight and pushed everything back to late May - but even that date is possibly getting pushed back.

Most fans would like to see Pacquiao defend his belt against Terence Crawford, who currently holds the WBC, WBO junior welterweight world titles.

The father and trainer of retired former five division champion Floyd Mayweather Jr., believes Pacquiao made the right decision in selecting a fight with Khan over Crawford.

Mayweather Sr. is a big fan of Crawford and he doesn't believe that Pacquiao is physically capable of beating him at this point.

"I’m not saying that Pacquiao’s done but I don’t think he can beat Terence Crawford. I think he may beat Amir Khan though. It depends on what Amir Khan is right now, everybody is getting old up there. I don’t really even know that much about Terence Crawford, only little things that I’ve seen, that’s all. He looks to be a very good fighter to me. I looked at Terence Crawford and I think he does a lot of things in there and I think he’s kind patented himself after Floyd a little bit," Mayweather Sr. told On The Ropes Boxing Radio.

Mayweather Sr. expects Khan's chin to be a big factor in the fight with Pacquiao. If Pacquiao lands flush, Mayweather Sr. predicts a knockout. Khan (31-4, 19 KOs) has been stopped three times in his career and went down several times throughout his career.

"Amir Khan has a glass jaw, if you look at him too long, he’s going to fall down. We’ll see, but if Pacquiao hits Amir Khan good, Amir Khan is gone," Mayweather Sr. said.

Omaha police interviewing champion boxer Bud Crawford after disturbance on North 30th Street

Omaha police were interviewing champion boxer Terence “Bud’’ Crawford on Tuesday afternoon after a disturbance outside the Douglas County offices on North 30th Street earlier in the day.

A fight had broken out between a woman Crawford knows and another woman around 1:20 p.m. outside the county offices at 7414 N. 30th St., according to information provided to police. Crawford was watching as the two women fought, and a crowd gathered in the parking lot where the fight was occurring. When Crawford's friend appeared to be losing the fight, Crawford called out for the women to stop. The skirmish continued, however, and Crawford yelled that he had a gun and displayed it, police said. The crowd scattered and police were called.

No arrests were made or citations issued in connection with the fight, and Crawford has not been arrested, said Officer Phil Anson, a police spokesman. No injuries were reported, Anson said.

    Crawford has a concealed-carry permit.

In December, a judge sentenced Crawford to 90 days in jail after he was convicted of misdemeanor property damage and disorderly conduct in connection with a disturbance at a north Omaha body shop, but he has appealed the verdict.

Brian McIntyre, Crawford’s head trainer, said in a phone interview that he was at Central Police Headquarters, awaiting the arrival of Crawford's attorney.

“I don’t know anything. I’m just standing here waiting," he said. “Right now we are just waiting for the facts to come in.”

Crawford's attorney could not be immediately reached for comment.

Nonito Donaire a Free Agent, Parts Ways With Top Rank

    By Steve Kim

After a long and successful association with Top Rank, former multi-division champion Nonito Donaire has parted ways with the company.

Donaire initially signed with Top Rank in 2008 after parting ways with promoter Gary Shaw. He nearly left the company in 2011 after signing a deal with Golden Boy Promotions, which caused a minor legal battle as Top Rank proved he was still contractual tied to their company. They eventually reconciled later that year. Donaire signed an extension with Top Rank in 2015.

"Nonito is a free agent, right now," confirmed Rachel, his wife confirmed to BoxingScene.com. "We're no longer under a promotional contract with Top Rank."

As for what the future holds, Ms. Donaire explained - ''Nonito still want to continue his career. We still have an amicable relationship with Top Rank. We're free to come back at anytime. Of course with (Oscar) Valdez there that's certainly an option, especially when Nonito tests the waters again at 126. As everyone knows Nonito couldn't make the March fight that Top Rank wanted to with Valdez. It was too close, we were told in January about that fight."

Donaire, who lost his WBO 122-pound belt to Jessie Magdaleno on November 5th in Las Vegas was hoping for a rematch. But Valdez and Magdaleno are now on an April 22nd card at the StubHub Center in Carson, California.

"So what we ended up doing is telling them is, 'Hey, maybe lets re-visit this later on down the road.' It wouldn't have worked anyway because Valdez has the mandatory (versus Miguel Marriaga). Our other option was Magdaleno who decided to fight the number twelve contender (Adeilson Dos Santos)," Rachel said.

The 34-year old Donaire currently has a record of 37-4 with 24 stoppages.

Boxing steers CBS to a primetime win on Saturday

Until Premier Boxing Champions began signing network TV deals a few years ago, boxing had been restricted to HBO, Showtime and occasionally ESPN. PBC has had primetime boxing cards on NBC and most recently CBS. Its Saturday primetime card on CBS scored for the network and beat the other broadcast fare including ABC’s NBA presentation of the LA Clippers at Chicago.

The overnight raging for the world welterweight unification title bout between Keith Thurman and Danny Garcia which resulted in a split decision for Thurman, registered a 2.2 on CBS.
ABC trailed not just in the overall number, but also in the all-important 18-49 demographic and viewership.

This marked the second primetime Premier Boxing Champions presentation on CBS, the previous one aired in June of last year. That card averaged an 1.8 rating. Both PBC cards were produced by CBS’ cable partner Showtime.

For years, the broadcast networks didn’t touch boxing and let the pay cable networks produce and promote fights. It had been a regular staple on broadcast TV from the 1950’s into the 1980’s, but as HBO and Showtime gained subscribers and prominence, the two cable networks basically took over in televising fights.

But now fans will point to CBS’ numbers stating that if there’s an attractive fight, boxing can attract an audience on broadcast television. And if PBC can put together good cards and compelling matchups, the numbers could remain consistent.

Premier Boxing Champions has contracts with three of the four broadcast networks, CBS, Fox/FS1 and NBC/NBCSN, and has deals with Bounce TV, ESPN and Spike and has plans for an extensive schedule in 2017.

Thurman-Garcia Fight Peaked at 5.1M Viewers; Averaged 3.74M

    By Keith Idec

Keith Thurman’s split-decision victory over Danny Garcia on Saturday night was the most-watched boxing match in prime time since Al Haymon’s Premier Boxing Champions brought boxing back to network television regularly two years ago.

According to ratings released Wednesday by Nielsen Media Research, the Thurman-Garcia welterweight championship unification fight, which was televised by CBS, drew a peak audience of 5.1 million viewers in the 12th round. An average of 3.74 million viewers watched Thurman-Garcia.

The entire telecast, which also included Erickson Lubin’s fourth-round knockout of Jorge Cota at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, averaged 3.1 million viewers.

The Thurman-Garcia ratings topped the viewership of the last fight CBS broadcast in prime time, Thurman’s unanimous-decision defeat of Shawn Porter on June 25 at Barclays Center. Thurman-Porter, though a more entertaining fight than Thurman-Garcia, peaked at 3.94 million viewers and averaged 3.15 million.

CBS’ boxing broadcast Saturday night beat ABC’s telecast of the Clippers-Bulls game, which averaged 1.7 million viewers, by a sizeable margin.

Viewership of Thurman-Garcia also exceeded a card televised in prime time by FOX the previous Saturday night. That February 25 show, headlined by WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder’s fifth-round knockout of Gerald Washington in Birmingham, Alabama, attracted a peak audience of 2.54 million viewers and an average viewership of 1.86 million.
